Frost DW DPS - Talent Spec?

I have been playing around the new 3.3.3 patch talent calculator, and i made a talent build for PvE Frost DW DPS that looks like this:

What do you folks think of it? Any suggestions or comments?

Why in God's name would you skip 2/2 endless winter and chill of the grave?

With the changes to the frost tree, I don't think BCB is reachable without giving up better frost dps talents. Whether or not necrosis outperforms subversion is another matter but that's going to depend on your crit chance and how well the haste buff effects us.

This was going to be my question too. I have a DK, but its an alt so I don't stay up on the changes like I should.

I would imagine you want to go 2/2 in Endless Winter and pick up Unbreakable Armor, but that would mean no BCB. I am sure the answers are out there on EJ somewhere (or probably on this forum and I just missed them) but has anyone run the numbers to see what would come out ahead?

<3 new changes...I don't think there will be an absolute best cookie cutter build for a little while because now we have some good options.

Necrosis and BCB are getting buffed this patch because of the 25% haste increase. It seems as though KM could lose a point and CoTG could go 1/2 without causing RP starvation. You might even be able to get away with 0/2 CoTG and use AMS wisely to keep from being starved.? EW is a must 2/2.

My logic behind skipping Chill of the Grave is that it only affects IT (which I'll only use at the start of a fight because of GoD), HB (which will only be used in AoE and on Rime procs, and Rime doesn't cost runes so it doesn't give RP), and Obliterate (the only one I'll actually be using regularly).

Drops KM down to 3 points and 1 point out of BCB. I'm figuring the extra 20% haste should make up for the reduced proc chance on the two talents. I tried giving up CotG on PTR and found that my number of frost strikes were cut almost in half so I'm going to try to keep it if I can. IF KM isn't up enough I'll trade a point from CotG and see how that works.

I was thinking earlier of using chillblains on the vile spirits, especially to help with the achievement. Is this what you were referring to and does it work well if you've tried it?

You use obliterate 5 times in a 20 second period with GoD. That's 25 runic for 5 obliterates or 75 runic per minute. How many other talents give you 2.3 frost strikes worth of damage a minute.

Likewise, UBA isn't an optional talent, it wasn't before and it's twice as powerful now. It can be taken as a 7% passive strength increase.

This IMO, Merciless Combat I see a lot of people getting, but its not needed (some may say it is) I see it as a PvP talent more than anything, but that is your discretion.

With my insanely bad math skills I figured this up to be 4.2% of total DPS. Can someone confirm or correct? Seems like quite a loss.

There is nothing else I want to sacrifice in my spec to get merciless combat. Plus talents like this are leaving in Cataclysm anyways I'm just weening myself off of it now :P

Merciless Combat is a great talent and you could very safely go to 1/2 CotG, 4/5 BI to get it.

I just wish thy would merge one 3 pointer in that damn tree so i didn't have to sacrifice points, I hate not taking a full talent (OCD maybe? lol).

It's understandable. I agree that it looks weird not to fill out a talent. I also don't care as much if it means I'll be squeezing out a bit more damage.

Unless someone can give me some pointers or reasons to drop BCB. From what I am reading, it is approx +1% per CP.

If you ever cap out on runic as frost, you're doing something wrong or you just hit AMS. Press your buttons faster, you have the available globals to do so.

@Unholyground - I think you've made this post about combining talents like 3 times now. Yet you spouted off at one point about how nothing in this game is challenging.? You want them to take theorycrafting and make it easier. Doesn't seem like you enjoy anything challenging. You're Cataclysm logic is flawed...yes, lets stop making decisions for the present based on speculation about 8 months from now...good plan.

So far on test dummies 1/2 CoTG looks pretty gravy.
