So Im having DPS issues, throughout 25 icc, i push like 6.5k dps. Its not an issue of hit, i missed once or twice tops. I don't know where my DPS is I believe I should be up to 7 or 8k and above. rotation is usual of 3 or 4 AB until Missiles then AM. Is it my rotation, my Gemming or what that is throwing me off.

Just get your T10 chest as soon as possible, the 4pc bonus is amazing. You're lining up all your CDs right? Just pop em all with a macro, trinket included of course. Your gemming is a little wacky but that's a way smaller deal than people make it out to be. Otherwise, the usual stuff: use quartz to deal with latency, plan your positioning to maximize your casting time, etc...

I'd stick +81 SP on your staff, use spi/SP gem in your helm, haste/SP gems in all your yellow sockets, just for future reference. Those gem changes would probably only get you like 60dps higher or something, honestly.

Yeah, if you don't have shadow priest or boomkin, you'll want to get closer to the 289 hit cap. With boomkin or shadow priest you only need 209.

I plugged you into it, it's saying that with full 25man raid buffs, 5 minute fight, your maximum theoretic tank n spank dps would be a bit under 9.8k dps. With optimal gemming and enchants, you'd only be a tad over 9.8k dps. With T10 i251 chest and optimal gems/enchants - 10.3k dps. Get that chest ASAP!

You're probably just not lining up all your CDs, moving too much or something. Pop mirror images at the start of fights, hit your macro button to pop all CDs, go crazy. Do it again 3 mins later if the boss is still alive. ;D

Btw you can squeeze in one AP cos of its 1.4min cd while Mirror Image is cooling down.

Not really sure how your dps can be so bad in a 25man. Also, your gemming is pretty bad. You skipped not one, but two +9 spellpower socket bonuses?! If it is 7+ spellpower you should be gemming for it.

Yellow sockets should be reckless ametrines, not quick king's.

Are you clipping missiles? Are you chain casting? You aren't a clicker are you? You are queueing your next spells?

With 2pc T10 a good general 'rotation'/priority system is ABSpam024Mbam. I will generally spam AB until about 5-6 without a proc before I use AM to wipe the stacks and try again, using POM AB at either the 4th stack or while moving, and using Abarr when moving if the stack is going to fall off.

it's bad unless a voidzone is under your feet.
each missile causes damage when it reaches the target, and like a dot, the last part of the channeling launches a missile. That means if you clip there was time you spent channeling that didn't produce a missile, which == bad.

only clip AM if you're about to- wait for it- diaf

are your spells bound to keys? or are u a clicker?
You should be using your keyboard to cast spells, not your mouse.
Not trying to be a dick, but if this is the cast it would account for a lot of DPS loss.

Use these macros to avoid clipping missiles,

This way you can never accidentally double click arcane missiles and can never cast arcane blast until arcane missiles is done channeling. This will effect any channeling spell, evocate, blizzard, such that you cannot cast missiles or blast until channeling is finished.

Be aware that this will make you suffer more from latency though, the way the 'nochanneling' is computed. It would only let you cast after you've finished your previous cast, PLUS your latency. Just use quartz cast bars, and cast when the casting bar progress marker hits the red latency portion - take advantage of Blizzard's work to help you manage latency, it's built-in and invisible.

there are a ton of addons that help watch cooldowns. a lot lately have been flocking to sexy cooldown (I believe is the addon title). There is also power auras, ghost pulse, and others. just look around on curse/wowinterface for one that does what you how you want.

Right, so from what i'm hearing, my gemming/enchanting accounts for like 100 dps, but what happened to the rest of the 2.5k+ dps i should have. Do people blast missiles as soon as procced and do u wait past 4 stacks of AB if it hasn't procced...

You always want to cast missiles after 4 stacks of AB. You keep casting until you get a proc. Some mages will just dump after 6 casts and no proc with missiles anyways.

Personally, I just burn AB till I get a proc and deal with the mana drain elsewhere.
As far as stopcasting to use Mbar on proc instantly, I do not. I finish my cast of AB and then cast missiles. Where or not it's a dps loss to do so, I couldn't tell you, but I always follow the age-old rule of never stop casting.

I personally see some pretty high numbers doing this. I average around 8k dps or so, so if those are the numbers you're hoping to achieve, you can do it with this simple take on the play style.

You'll have to wait for a more advanced post on whether or not stopcasting your AB spam to use the proc is a dps gain over finishing your cast.

har har... on the heroic dummy, just going through a rotation, i pull 4.4-4.9k. I dont pop cool downs for this. popping cool downs, 5.5k. ma and ai on. general question, should u use AB because the haste form t10 makes up for it?

I'm confused by your question. Remember too that the dummies don't have TtW on them, so that's a huge dps loss when testing.

As far as the 2pc t10 proc, it's only engaged by using Mbar, so you would immediately begin casting AB thereafter. I'm not sure what you're trying to make up for? If you can clarify, than I'm sure you could be helped further.

arcane will only really shine once you learn how to use your cooldowns properly, it is a massive difference in mage damage once you use the right cd's at the right time
