I played Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142, and Counter Strike: Source mainly. Yeah, WoW was a big change. But, as soon as Battlefield 3 comes out, I don't know if I'll pay WoW much mind except for maybe a little Cataclysm.

I've been playing console games since the original NES. But when Halo 2 came out, I played a lot on xbox live with my friends. That opened up the whole online gaming for me. Then it was Final Fantasy XI, and that opened up the world of MMOs to me. Now I'm in WoW, and an occasional console game.
Runescape, DotA, and other maps in war3 FT
Very bad.
Guild Wars! first mmo
best
@Mistreseliza.. I've been playing games since the Atari 2600, Apple IIe, Intellivision days. Yes, I'm old... and No.. I'm not going to list an archive of games.
In 2004, prior to starting WoW, I played alot of games on Xbox Live- Halo2, Crimson Skies, PGR2 etc. I was actually fairly competitive, and came 3rd in my State for the World Cyber Games for Halo. I also played SC, W3, CS, Q3A and HoMM3, UT3 and DotA all on the PC, and mainly multiplayer. I still play those games casually, but WoW has certainly led to a degradation of skills in other genres / platforms.
Have you heard of the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV? With an expanded free trial which you can play through the entirety of A Realm Reborn and the award winning Heavensward expansion up to level 60 for free with no restrictions on playtime?
I used to play alot more strategy games, dungeon keeper, starcraft, red alert etc*
Then moved on to FF (4-10, then they got pants), unreal tourny, quake, halo etc
THEN DISCOVERED WOW
And now I play wow, mirror's edge, halo 3, beautiful katamari, left 4 dead, mario kart etc
*can anyone remember a PC strategy game from the 90s that was fantasy, there were 3 races ('good' humans, 'evil' undead, and another I can't remember), and each could build an awesome dragon unit I remember humans could build trebuchets, and the undead could build these lil guys that floated around on carpets. Oh, and you'd start the match with your 'king' as a playble unit, and I'm pretty sure everything could lvl up too... damn awesome game.

Assuming you mean right before WoW, and not every single game we played before;
Guild Wars. People from there were bashing WoW already, so I didn't even consider going over to WoW. However, after I found out some IRL friends played it, I decided to give it a try.
I remember being very excited about actually being able to jump while moving, and without having to write an emote, not to mention the many different races and classes you could pick in comparison to Guild Wars. Needless to say, I dropped Guild Wars immediately and started leveling my Human Warrior(which I dropped at level 23 for an Undead Rogue).
Guild Wars was pretty, but the game-play was extremely boring(might have changed?)
Before I started playing wow, I played Go for a few years. I forget what I was doing before that. :-\
Diablo II from 2001-2003 (Diablo III may replace my Cataclysm playtime)
Runescape from 2003-2005 (Made $10,000 playing this game) Not sure how I spent so much time playing looking back at it.
Consoles from 2005-2007 (Dorm internet was shit)
WoW from 2007 - Present
80 Warrior | 80 Death Knight | 80 Paladin | 80 Rogue | 80 Shaman | 73 Priest | 70 Hunter | 67 Druid | 64 Mage
Kingslayer | Starcaller | Astral Walker | Duelist
