Necks and Rings for tanking

browsing feral tanks in the armory ive noticed some opt for agil/stam pieces over the "tanking" strength/stam ones. Is this actually a good idea in some places?

Im going to take a piece with armor on it over anything but until my guild can clear the bosses that drop those, i was wondering if it was an option?

Agi pieces are certainly an option. In general they'll give quite a lot more threat, but less avoidance / stam / mitigation.

i had the same problem some month ago. This thread cab maybe help you. But in general, tanking rings and neck is the best choice.

I wish i could get that ring its top of my priority list, but my guild clears putricide 10 man and thats it no heroic modes no 25mans (i can manage about the first wing in pugs thats about it, after all im from rivenfail).

Admittedly the seal is great for threat but I don't feel the avoidance and SD uptime benefits outweigh the armour on the tanking ring. That might just be me and I am admittedly an armor whore in ICC.

I agree. I think 550 armor and ~40 stam is quite a bit to give up for ~0.5% dodge (before DR) and increased SD.

In the end all it comes down to is personal preference anyway

the agi ring also provides 220 armor, so it's "only" a loss of 330 armor. however it's still 40 stam as well... but rawr lists me both as the two top tank rings, the rep ring somewhere below ... I dunno ... either the proc uptime (which results out of a 3% chance when getting hit) is really low - I don't really pay that much attention to it on my classtimer - or rawr doesn't have it modeled correctly yet ... does anyone has an idea?

Alski already factored that in - the ring has 756 armor, so it's a difference of about 550 armor.

I'm actually using the seal as part of my tanking set atm, the other options I have for that slot are the 245 badgering, or the ring from Gunship10H. I lose a tiny bit of survival but gain in avoidance. (using Twins10H ring in the other slot)
