    Re: Curse Subscription

Subscribing shows that you're supporting a site that does its best
to provide you with the latest addons available.
As a benefit you will see no advertisement in the curse client and the website.

I'm lucky ... I get the subscription because you're all loading my addons

    Re: Curse Subscription

the mods come from and often are updated much sooner (sometimes by months) from the dev minded sites.

    http://www.wowace.com/addons
    http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads

    For a simple example.
    X-perl from curse.
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-a...ils/xperl.aspx 3months out of date and with the healthbar bug and numerous other errors.

    X-perl from Wow Ace.
    http://www.wowace.com/addons/xperl/
same three month old build, but a SLEW of author updates and fixes, most recent being march 28th. (health bug is fixed too)

sometimes you just don't get what you pay for. pass on curse.

    Re: Curse Subscription

The curse client has access to Wowace's latest files. Changing the release quality higher(alpha or beta) pulls the latest version from wowace. Some authors like kollektiv for DXE like to do alot of alpha releases and as such the default settings for the Curse Client don't download these addons.

Is it just me or does this whole thread sound like one big advertisement?

There are two great sites offering services around addons and both are mentioned already

    Re: Curse Subscription

The benefits of subscribing to Curse Premium are:
    1) No advertisements on Curse's website(s) or on the Curse Client
    2) Ability to update all addons in Curse Client with one click
    3) Ability to queue more than 2 addons for download.

They also run occasional contests for Premium Members only.

Change your build preference to beta/alpha and you'll get all the updates. Beta is usually fine, alpha can be WAY wonky depending on the addon in question.
