    Extending a lock out period

    (Branchnig off from another thread...)

How does this work? I'm slightly at a loss how this feature works.

Say 12 people are saved to a 10man with 6/12 ... (swapped out a couple of people)

one person decides to extend the raid lock out.

Do all 12 people get the extended lock out? with no choice?

Only the 1 person gets the extended lock out? Then does he have to enter the instance first (as leader) and then let others follow him in?

Will the other 9 players in the new week get the message about this not being a fresh instance?

    ???
    It's just a game.

I believe the lock out is extended for that single person, and if that person were to lead a raid anyone who enters after he enters will have the option of saving themselves to that run. So no, it only extends the lockout for the person who extends it. Everyone else can enter a fresh run.

If you exented the lockout yourself and as leader you lead a raid

you will not get saved to that run unless you down a boss (from my experiance)

so if you fail to down that boss you can just un-extended and re-enter the instance to make it fresh

note: you cannot un-extend a raid lockout if you have already downed something after your extended

was discussing this on the official wow forums earlier today:

    http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread....00612320&sid=1

it would seem that if you continue for example, a lich king save, with the same group and fail to down him - you can spend all week wiping then unextend before the weekly reset and clear through again.

however - anyone not in your original group, that cleared through to the LK the first time round, will be saved to your instance for that week.

some clarification from a blue would be lovely, but that's never gonna happen on the EU forum

    This is very interesting...

So in essence our guild can extend a lock out to get a few more attempts at a boss ... and if we continue to fail, we can just leave the instance, unextend and BAM farm the fresh instance again?

We just have to warn new people joining us for the extended raid....

    It's just a game.

    Right.

    1. The person who extended is the only one who is now in the new lockout. Others can enter after them and be saved to this just like any other case where one person is saved to an instance.

    2. If you extend a lockout, work on non-attempt limited bosses, and don't kill anything, you can revert the extension and enter a fresh instance. Killing a boss or wiping on an attempt-limited boss will both save you to the new lockout.

    3. If you're saved on entrance to the extended lockout (i.e., raid leader had extended, you zone in to join them and then get the message about being saved), you can't revert the extension or remove your save; you're stuck with that. If it doesn't save you on entrance, you're fine to zone out and go to a new instance. (I've heard mixed reports on whether or not you do actually get saved immediately or after the next boss kill when entering an instance in progress.)

just the addendum: Even the person who extended his raidlock can remove the raid lock extension as long as nothing happened that would save him to the instance (ie downing a new boss).

We were extending for several weeks without any issues and then removing the extension and doing a fresh clear. After a patch about a month ago we tried the same tactic and it saved us all as soon as we entered (same 10 people every time). I posted on the wow forums about the issue as did several others and since then we are back to not having a problem.

The best way to tell is if you get the "You are entering an instance with x/12 bosses down" then if you choose to stay you cannot revert. If you don't get that message when entering then you will be able to reset assuming you don't use any limited attempts or down a boss.
What do you think about the season 7 shaman set?
It looks like what would happen if one of those big rock giants from Outlands mated with Spiderman.

Re: Extending a lock out period

took some fresh players with us on our LK save last night, none of them were asked to confirm a save of 11/12 bosses killed. so yea, should be able to reset it and do a fresh run if we dont get the SoB down, without anyone sacrificing a weeks worth of frosties for attempts on the LK
