Not that different from PvE.
You might get attacked sometimes, then ganked, /spitted and /lol'ed. But thats the only difference.

I played on stormscale (now the biggest realm in terms of players number) for 5-6 days and the only world pvp was in stranglethorn killing some low lvl to force them to come with their mains.
Then in southshore were 2-3 low levels.
Thats kinda the only pvp in the game, except arena, bg, and wg who can be done on normal realms.
typical day on pvp server for me
log on have 3 chars to do jc daily on, get quest on priest go kill mob turn in quest,
get quest on warlock go kill mob turn in quest,
get quest on mage go attempt to kill mob, get air bombed dead, say *fucking hell you pos im just killing 1 fucking mob u dick*, run back loot mob, turn in quest,
or maybe i want to lvl a alt, get quests pull some mobs, 1 shot from UZBER PWNREEXRE ROGUE with full w/e homo season it is gear, wow he must be zooo awezome to have gankered me
or lets pretend I'm someone who pvps, I run around lowbie zones looking to buff my epeen by killing lvl 30s in gankerthornvale because I have an extremely small penis and I'll never speak to a women that isn't filled with air so I have to harass others that have absolutely no chance to fight back so I don't have to worry about losing, then after they stop returning to their bodies I flee to another zone so I don't have to get beat up by their main
or lets say I want to go to wintergrasp because I bet its better on a pvp server, I join the battle, I see that my faction is retarded and they are spamming catapults and are fighting people who are at the eternal farming spots instead of trying to win the zone
Really, PVP servers suck, they were awesome in Vanilla when you have real Southshore/Tarren Mill Battles and the fights at Xroads but now they are just pathetic, I've lvled every class to 80 on my first server (a pvp server) and now that just about everyone i ever played with has switched to pve servers or has moved on from the game, I've given up on my home server
Now after you read that I'm expecting the "QQ roll carebear server" and all I have to say is I spent 5 years on a pvp server, its just not fun, unless theres one server out there extremely over populated that actually forms raids VS raids for world pvp besides For The Horde/For The Alliance
edit: things also worse on pvp servers
moar peeps demanding overgeared gearscore
worse trade chat(no really it is)
random rogue's steathing into enemy cities JUST to kill the auctioneers but not engage in any fights with the players unless they get spotted which they just hall ass for stocks or jump into that empty moat in IF(cause who the hell uses any of the other cities
world pvp doesnt really exist anymore. to make world pvp happen you have to go gank lowbies until they geton their mains, and by than they usualy bring overkill to make it a 3-5 to one, you being the 1. finding a pve progression guild on a pvp server is easy enough, and getting people to random q some BGs with you would be easy enough too. But in a world of flight, there is no world pvp.
Pondering returning.
Nikoll - Retribution Paladin
sometimes (maybe once or twice a month) i head to stormwind with a few buds and we start killing the guards and the elite guy right out on the bridge and some allies show up and we fight and eventually all us guildies die and run back, and sometimes i see an alliance or two doing tournament dailies... but yeah... world pvp died after wrath hit. the Isle in bc brought it back kind of... hopefully we'll have world pvp again someday... can Cat solve it? plus its kind of fun as a mage on world pvp servers, you can heal the opposite faction if youre feeling nice (polymorph ftw!).
Could be kinda hatefull if you're trying to lvl and a lvl 80 nub is flyng around looking for lowbies to gank.
I see mostly negative responses here, so i guess i gotta throw in a few words as well.
I myself am playing on Bloodfeather EU PvP horde side.
As a general rule: I do not gank lowlvls most of the time, unless they stand at the edge of a cliff and pretty much begs to be thudnerstormed.
On my alt: I generally engage other people leveling and kill em (fair fights) or die, and try again (or avoid that area for a while)
World pvp is very thinned out in wow, the only places it still exists is around daily quest hubs or objectives, at the entrance to raids and in wintergrasp in-between battles.
Im hoping Cataclysm will bring back some proper world pvp, and since there wont be a sanctuary there will be more "screwing around" in the opposite faction's major cities.
As for me, pvp server is the only way. I might not gank, or like getting ganked, but i like having the opportunity to engage an alliance member at all times. Ganking is part of the game, and using your main to camp the person ganking your alt is always fun.
Also there is a certain amount of thrill in knowing that there might be some allies around and not feeling quite safe.
Don't Fwoosh me.
what i think they should add is zones like WG(forced PvP) where the exp gained from questing and killing NPCs and drop rates are increased by 20%.
that way there is a large benefit for being in these areas but also a large risk. but this would only benefit on a non-pvp server.
for pvp servers they could also add sanctuary zones where the exp and drops are decreased by 20%. gives people a safe place to level without having to worry about whats behind the bushes.
they said they were adding a zone where you would be able to quest after your faction has captured it. wonder if you will still be flagged for pvp even after the battle has ended.
Sanctuaries are currently killing world pvp as we speak. You kind of defeat the purpose of a pvp server by adding these zones.Originally Posted by Darkagial
Im not saying everyone will go there, but a lot of people would, meaning less world pvp for the people who rolled pvp server for this purpose, to be able to engage others while lvling.
If you cant handle the downsides on a pvp server, then roll pve server.
Sanctuary zones would take away the downsides from pvp servers, you'd have a simple solution when things got though, you could just go to the sanctuary zone instead... Leaving the ones enjoying their current "up-sides" (the people killing others) without their fun as well, aka. taking away the purpose of a pvp server.
Having a zone with increased XP and such on a PvE server would make all the people on PvP servers > PvE server and keep their world pvp while also having 20% more xp and whatnot.
So in the end, its not really a good idea.

Nothing different, you might just encounter some cheap ass hunters with engineering that are corpsecamping and flying around looking for people to kill using his slow fall and instant attacks when you are AFK on your mount outside ICC or something.
The only real difference from a PvP server to a PvE one is thishttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSsNUp-O7WM Doesnt generally happen on while people wait for something on PvE but most certainly will and be a lot worse as new raids open on a PvP server, Everything else is pretty much the same cept there is more ego on pvp realms as well.
sub 80: get ganked every now and then while leveling by some douche 80. Also sometimes engage people around your level in PVP while questing (above level 60 ish, because before then ppl just bg/dungeon finder for the most part)
at 80: about the same except its a little more dangerous to stand around outside raid portals.
You won't ever make it into ICC, because as you get unmounted the opposite faction will kill you.
PvP server is like an oxygen.PvP server is a many splendored thing. PvP server lift us up were we belong! ALL U NEED IS PVP SERVEEEEEEEEEEEER.
Its like you stand in daralan for 40 hours a week still.
If you're leveling you have your main nearby for ganking but since you can fly now.... nothing matters.
pvp servers have loads of guys that troll low areas to gank lowbies, On Hakkar it is the alliance that is full of these dudes. I tend to do my dailes in pvp gear with my pvp spec just in case the inevitable happens. Oh by the way, most gankers wait for you to get low health or be engaged with a mob before they attack which is really weak. It usually happens about once a day if not more
How the hell can you know that? You've played at a pvp realm, your entire time in wow. Youve never set a foot on a pve realm. And yet you know that there are MORE of certain things? good job, you pumpkin.. good frikkin job.Originally Posted by xGannandorf

It depends a LOT on the ratio between Horde and Alliance.
On the 2 servers I play on, there would be virtually no difference, since Alliance is pretty much non-existent.
However if the opposite is true, or if the faction populations are more equal, prepare to get attacked/ganked a lot while grinding, leveling.
Its a LOT more fun than the boring PvE shit. You will be angry at times, frustrated, but its worth it all when you get payback or annihilate a ganker

Reminds me of a video i once watched, cant find it now > Alliance wanted to raid Thunderbluff.. as they came up on lift, a shaman blow them all off.. GG
