Shadow edge or bryntroll ?

Hello i made this topic for my friend


Atm i got bryntroll and i was thinking about to go for shadow edge i got the mats and saronite is it a huge upgrade ?
or is it only good to get if you going for legendary ?
shoud i waste like 10k g for a axe ?

heres the rule of thumb

if your guild is allowing you to get your shadowmourne first/2nd, get the shadows edge

if not, get the herioc bryntroll (thanks to the ever increasing buff in ICC, the bonestorm enthusiast is a cake walk)

Well, whats your current spec, do you have a blood of frost subspec, and whats your current gear level? There is a clear cut line where you should either use a proc weapon like Bryntroll, or not, with shadows edge. So its down to your gear and spec to be honest.

Saronites are down to 700g in AH and ~600g in trade channel on my server.

That means around 17.5k and 15k for me. Still a lot of money for a weapon that's 'okay' compared to heroic bryntroll and a like. Unless of course you're in the line to get Shadowmourne, which I'm not since i turned that down myself

im farmin saronites with 2 chars, so no gold spent atm.

im getting shadow's edge just for the sake of it (dunno if i'll manage to get the shards, at least it's fun to do the quests).

If your gear is about ICC10/ICC25 level, get Shadow's Edge.
If not, stay with Bryntroll until you obtain the above.

If you're a chinese farmer or doing "bussines" with one, YES. Even 17k is still a lot considering shadow's edge is a way to little improvement to be worth that money.
If you are a normal player, NO. Stick to bryntroll.

17K being a lot is so very personal.
A guy in my guild is a VERY casual player, he just loves to do, as he calls it "the AH game" and he's getting close to the gold limit.
He does that, other people farm achievements, other people do pvp, other people gear up alts... etc etc etc.
Other people have loads of money from former expansions, other people got lucky and sold one or more battered hilts when they were HOT.
It's just a matter of what you prioritize in game. If you want to maximize your raid dps, it's always worth getting it when it becomes better than Bryntroll.

Saying 17K is only a normal and doable amount for farmers or gold buyers is really so extremely short sighted.

Yeah, i agree, these kind of figures are totaly doable. To be honest, if your not going to be getting Shadowmourne, shadows edge may not be worth it now. I got it, looking towards upgrading to Shadowmourne. Even before LK heroic, you have heroic Cryptmaker, or heroic Bryntroll. These will both be better than shadows edge, also the standard lk 25man 2hander is nice. Again, better than shadows edge. If you have high level gear, go for the heroic Cryptmaker. As the proc on Bryntroll doesnt scale with gear.

The proc rate does scale with gear though, so if your gearing as you should as UH SubFrost you'll get slightly more procs with better gear =p
