I dont think there is any real lore to back up this statement, its just assumed because the old gods are like part of the world.

Abedneum yells: Accessing. In the early stages of its development cycle Azeroth suffered infection by parasitic, necrophotic symbiotes.
Brann Bronzebeard yells: Necro-what? Speak bloody common will ya?
Abedneum yells: Designation: Old Gods. Old Gods rendered all systems, including Earthen defenseless in order to facilitate assimilation. This matrix destabilization has been termed the Curse of Flesh. Effects of destabilization increased over time.
Brann Bronzebeard yells: Old Gods eh? So they zapped the Earthen with this Curse of Flesh. And then what?
Kaddrak yells: Accessing. Creators arrived to extirpate symbiotic infection. Assessment revealed that Old God infestation had grown malignant. Excising parasites would result in loss of host.
Brann Bronzebeard yells: If they killed the Old Gods Azeroth would have been destroyed.
Kaddrak yells: Correct. Creators neutralized parasitic threat and contained it within the host. Forge of Wills and other systems were instituted to create new Earthen. Safeguards were implemented and protectors were appointed.

    Titans came, created, left.
    Old gods subverted.
Titans came back fixed what they could, imprisoned old gods and left again.

If the Oldgods were left, wouldnt they have rampaged the created lifeforms? Why would they need to infect them, when they could onestump them?

But why would the Titans leave behind such a threat, unchecked?

Specially if they had to come back.

I dont get it. I understand stuff was retconned but I still dont get the new lore.

Why leave such a threat behind unchecked, specially when you trying to rebuild the world?

    makes no sense.

that would be similar to the Girl in Sorority Row at the end, who was beating the shit out the bad guy, but kept walking away and leaving the killer with his weapons.

    ---------------

Also another thing I dont understand about the retcon, is
why didnt the titans Destroy the Elemental generals?

Originally they were siad to be chained under the planet in the elemental planes to power the Well so they could rebuild the planet and creatures, but this was retcon, and changed. So whats the reason now that the Titans didnt destroy them?

The crux of it is that the old gods showed up on azeroth after the titans left the earthen there.

The elementals would just stay on Azeroth because they wouldnt have anywhere to go to, so they imprisoned them in somewhere they would be locked up forever

    So thats the new retcon?

Oldgods come after the Titans get there, and the Elementals didnt get destroyed, why

that part still never was explained in the retcon

They didn't leave the Old God's unchecked. When they found out about the infection, they intended to destroy them but after learning that life would cease if the Gods were killed, they imprisoned them. And over the years the Gods have slowly broken free from the prisons.

but the Titans created the first humanoid lifeforms as the earthen, why would they do that while in conflict with the Oldgods still hanging around?

The Titans had no idea the old gods were there. The old gods infested Azeroth AFTER the Titans created everything and left.

Yes, conflict, but not ON Azeroth, the Old Gods moved on Azeroth AFTER the Titans left, and the Titans tracked them there to remove them.

I'm starting to feel as though this is a troll guys.

It's been lain out pretty clearly that the Titans came to Azeroth, created the Earthen, and then left without knowing of the Old Gods' presence there. They then found out about them and went back to exterminate them but learned that they had basically bound themselves to the life that was there, so the Titans couldn't wipe the Old Gods out. The next best thing was to imprison them and hope that fixed things, which it did for a time. But they began breaking free slowly.
