    Archaeology

I for one can't wait for the new secondary profession, but so far alle I have found is at
    http://db.mmo-champion.com/skill/794/archaeology/

    The tracking:

    Find Fragments

    The tool tip:

    Archaeology
Higher archaeology skill allows you to complete more valuable artifacts and collect more artifact fragments. Fragments can be found in ruins and dig sites.

and ofcourse the different ranks of:

    Searching for Artifacts

I really hope that they will bring us more information about Archaeology soon

So, would the dwarf racial "Find Treasure" give an increase to archaeology? Seems the most likely path, other than removal.

    Re: Archaeology

I think it will be required, if for nothing more than it makes getting into the paths easier. I mean, if you have to grind something up, why not choose they way that takes the shortest time possible, right

    Re: Archaeology

I don't know how they'll do it but it'll cap every week the progression and you could probably progress by donating loot from heroics or something within heroics that might make the profession redundant if you cap it just from the heroics you do.

I think it will be a requirement if you want to be competitive in PVE. First Aid is not a requirement, and no I don't bandage much, but it is still a 'must have' for any respectable pve player.

On topic, good find, can't wait to hear more.

This isn't Vanilla. First Aid is no longer a requirement, nor even close to it anymore.

He did say it wasn't a requirement but still should be had if you want to be good. The one time bandages saves your life makes it worth leveling.

    Re: Archaeology

first i am pretty sure it WILL be a requirement for path of the titans progression (meaning ancient glyphs), but since we don't really know all that much still...who knows

anyway i think i figured out how this will work. the main nodes we will need to "dig up" will mostly be found with in old towns from classic WoW that were "destroyed" in the cataclysm, which includes Auberdine in Darkshore and the old island NE town in feralas that was also destroyed. these places will be key areas to level up the profession. i suspect other areas of the world that are considered ruins (Anderhall in WPL, the rumbled section of silvermoon city, and any sub-zone that has "ruins of.." in the title)

    Re: Archaeology

Slightly off-topic here, but I hope they tie Archeology to new legendaries:

    1. Super long quest chain, requiring heavy use of Archeology to scavenge the world / dungeons / raids for a super unique item that begins a quest...
    2. Spend thousands and thousands of gold to purchase mats to blah blah (like Primordial Saronite)
    3. A lot of Archeology again to collect other pieces
    4. Finally several hard mode raid bosses for drops + shards
    5. Finally kill toughest hard mode boss on that tier for a final unique drop
    6. Once the overall legendary is ready, need to search for the "Lost blah blah" to "infuse" the legendary with power etc

I am a big tomb raider fan and thinking of finding a broken legendary weapon that needs to be "reforged" after spending several months collecting items (through Archeology and gold) and doing hard mode bosses just makes me giddy!!!!

...ummm, bandaging is a huge waste of time for any healer. And if you are tanking, you can't exactly bandage...

On topic: I am really looking forward to Archaeology, but if it is the best (or only) way to open up path of the titans, I am REALLY not looking forward to grinding it on all ten toons

There is a third role people can fill called dps, maybe you have heard of it.
If you say "pls" becuase it's shorter than "please", I'll say "no" becuase it's shorted than "yes".

No they said leveling Path of the Titans is gated. Leveling Archeology can be as grindy as the want it to be.
Archeology is one of the top things i am looking forward to, however everyone will have it as, if i recall BlizzCon correctly,
You need Maxed Archeology & Lv85 to start down a Path.

Ii assume Uldum will be a major leveling zone for archeology?

The post I was quoting called first aid a "must have for any respectable PvE player." I was pointing out that it is unneeded by healers and tanks who are actively tanking. Of the DPS, the only ones that really "need" first aid are the ones that have no self heal: Hunters, rogues, mages, warriors, and Frost/Unholy DKs have rather weak death strikes, so them too. Shadow Priests, Locks, Druids of any spec, DPS shaman, Ret Pallies, and Blood DKs have better ways of healing themselves than bandages.

My omission of DPS was because I said all I need to say to counter the post I had quoted.

If I am not mistaken, they were referring to path of the titans, not archaeology when they said that. I might be mistaken though. And yes they are trying to make the professions less grindy. My point is that doing the same thing (getting arch. to 450ish on ten toons) will be repetitive and thus feel grindy.
