After reading over the new updates about the loot drops from Ruby Sanctum, I was surprised at how much arp and ap the trinket gives. It has more arp than DBW ( 4 less than the heroic version) and 54 more ap on proc than WFS heroic. It seems to me that this could possibly be best in slot or very close to it, but i would like to hear what other DK's think!

Heroic death's choice might be better than the normal version.

Its a nice trinket for DW Frost OB/ArPen Build. Only simming will tell where it ranks.

Even for standard frost builds, ArPen is the second highest stat, which at a quick glance makes it better than WFS and HWT.

The heroic version is almost certain to be best in slot along side heroic deathbringers will for all dk specs. It is also likely that frost dks will be gemming armour penetration to the cap after getting both arp trinkets.

I havn't played with a sim much lately but is it concevable that unholy may gem arp provided they can hit high enough numbers from gear? ( i wouldn't think so but ya never know)

I'm curious what the loot pattern is for Halion. As in (1 trinket + 2 other items) what drops per kill? etc

But that trinket basically has every physical dps class in tears of joy. The other trinkets are outstanding as well (caster dps trinket on my arc mage please!)

I'm not sure you'll see Frost DW gem pure ARP. It's too situational for us. Any fight with multi targets and your dps drops off the charts. There are fights it would benefit us, but having two sets of gear? No thanks. Str is much more universal for our abilities..

According to Elitist Jerks, this trinket far surpasses Heroic DC assuming you are in, atleast averagely, 264 gear.
The heroic version may be stronger than DBW just because there is no RNG to worry about as well.

And, since Unholy gets the least return from ArP compared to all DKs, I'd assume it's better for Frost and Blood as well.

I know this isn't warrior forum, but this trinket is going to be great.

I know for one I'm going to nab this sucker, replace my wfs and change a LOT of arp gems with str gems. I can almost drool at the epicness.

Just looked on the EJ forums and apparently this trinket is definitely going to be best in slot, even the non heroic version beats out heroic deaths choice.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be vague on you. Here's a better reason why you don't gem Arp for Frost.

Target Switching makes ARP's value decrease. Reason = no/fewer debuffs (sunder, imp FF, etc). Arp's value isn't linear, the more you have the more you want it. Therefore, losing the 3/5% debuff before Arp calculations makes a very big difference proprotionately to losing that same debuff utiltizing Str gems instead.

So fights where Arp Gemming Hurt you in ICC.

With that said, when you look at a Warrior or Blood DK, the vast majority of their damage dealt is Physical. That's why they gem Arp, despite the drop off they get on those fights listed above. Since Arp doesn't effect as large of a % of our attacks, Str becomes more versatile/usefull over the long run. Would you do more damage on Saurfang gemming for Arp? With certain gear / weapon levels, yes! Is it practical for the whole instance? no

I don't know about everyone else, but I don't use an AOE rotation on the Valks.
Using Pest and HB maybe twice for each Valkyr part hardly counts as an AOE rotation which is what is implied.

It's not terribly great for retribution paladins either, but I'm pretty sure that the proc will still put it as BiS.
