    Can someone explain..

How the fuck MMR and points work? I would really like to know why my team loses 20-30 points for beating teams with MMRs 200-400 higher than ours while they gain 20-30; and when we beat those same teams we gain something along the lines of 7-10 points with them losing 0.
I'm not talking about those teams in full wrathful and t2 weapons that are just starting new teams, I'm talking about the established teams that are in fact 2200+MMR and a team rating of ~2200.
I've never heard an explanation for this, and honestly it's pretty stupid. I'm sick of losing an hours work in one game at 2k rating. It's ridiculous.

I agree 100%. I would love to know as well.

My favorite is when you lose to a 2500 beast cleave in 45seconds and lose 45min worth of games.

went down 61 rating playing 3 games in a row on nearly 2500 rating only fighting beastcleaves once =D
OT: You're exaggerating. Stop doing that and then come back with some real questions.

I promise you I'm not. It makes more sense for this to be happening at higher ratings, but not when the team is still climbing there.

well lets say you lose "30" rating(which you can't but since you're saying so) even though their mmr is 400 rating higher than yours.
    Scenario: Your mmr=1500, their mmr 1900, your teamrating=OVER 9000, their teamrating=1000ish
If you lost this game it would probably cause you to lose "30" rating and they would probably gain around 30 rating aswell.
    Happy?

Edit: oh forgot. Well when you fight them again they must have dropped around 600ish mmr. that would cause you to gain around 7 points but since their team rating still isnt very high they wont lose a single rating.

Im sorry. what i said before was clearly wrong. this seems very likely to me now and must be what is happening to you guys every game...

    Re: Can someone explain..

Arena rating calculation of each match is based on the ELO Rating System which is used by the international chess rating system.

The ELO system takes the score of two opponents and calculates a statistical chance of winning based off those scores. After the match it uses the difference between the calculated chance of winning and the actual results. The difference between the two probabilities is then applied to the maximum amount of points allowed per match. Having a maximum amount makes sure teams have to play a large number of matches instead of just getting lucky and beating one team with a high ranking score.

Example of a match rating calculation:

    Team A's Current Score: 1500pt
    Team B's Current Score: 1580pt
    Team A's Chance of Winning: 1 / (1+10(1580 - 1500)/400) = 0.38686
    Team B's Chance of Winning: 1 / (1+10(1500 - 1580)/400) = 0.61314
Now Let's say Team A won the battle then
    Team A's New Score: 1500 + 32*(1 - 0.38686) = 1500 + 19.62 = 1519.62
    Team B's New Score: 1580 + 32*(0 - 0.61314) = 1580 + (-19.62) = 1560.38
Now Let's say Team B won the battle then
    Team A's New Score: 1500 + 32*(0 - 0.38686) = 1500 + (-12.38) = 1487.62
    Team B's New Score: 1580 + 32*(1 - 0.61314) = 1580 + 12.38 = 1592.38

The K value used by Blizzard is 32. So each match, the maximum rating gain/loss will be 32pts. And if you play with a team with same rating, you will gain/lose exactly 16pts.

As you can see when a team with a higher ranking score wins a match against a lower ranking team, they receive fewer points than if the lower rank team won.

    This is outdated though.

The numbers are, but mmr behaves the same way, just much, much more drastically than team/persorating and is carried over teams and seasons.
