Thekal soloed - No exploits

Hello everyone.

I wasn't going to make a big deal out of this but since I got featured on WCM I'm urged to promote the video. It's something I did a few months ago and as the title says yeah, a fully legit kill of Thekal in ZG.

For those of you who've been scared off by the length of previous videos (solo Geddon + Shazzrah together = 30 minute video), I assure you that this one is just one song long

I would appreciate if anyone with access to the US mage forums posted about this there. It's never happened so far with any of my videos and yet I ask it every time. Perhaps the quality of the video or the intensity of the fight might motivate one of you to do it this time

Still, I think it's ridiculous that mages have to go through so much bullshit in order to solo a level 60 raid boss that any retarded DK or Paladin could smash without even trying.

I am actually not so sure you do, if you pay careful attention you'll see his Silence CD pretty much *is* 20 seconds anyway. I do recall at one point I've nearly lost the BD buff and he silences my pet. I don't know if they avoid silencing/kicking me (as in, go for a different target if they can) when I have BD, but it's possible. I thought it'd come in handy for when I have both the rogue and Thekal on me, but I can't say if it's really made a difference.

Perhaps more importantly, what would you get instead? You can get Magic Absorption and Spell Impact with those points, some Clearcasting... nothing overly exciting. If you also steal some points from the frost tree you could get Arcane Shielding or TtW however, which would certainly help.

Thanks. I agree some classes have total soloing easymode, but as someone who does this for the prestige rather than some sentimental drops like mounts or TF parts or whatever, I welcome the added challenge.

I've soloed everything except him, for 40|0|31 he hits too hard > Also he can't leave his room (evade), and there is not enough place to kite him >

Because mages generally do not have survivability, self-healing, or sustainable DPS required to solo old world content like plate classes do. What seems easy for a death knight or paladin requires a specific strategy, good execution, and a small amount of luck for a mage to pull off.
