    Questions regarding shaman leveling

So I searched these forums and it's stickies and could not find any info regarding shaman leveling (or at least nothing useful).
I'm planning on leveling a shaman and made all the preparations (mail heirloom shoulders and chest (melee), 2x heirloom mace with 15 agi on it, heirloom 2h axe with crusader, 2x heirloom haste trinket, and a whole set of caster gear from my old lock, enchanted as well).

The start is gonna be easy, hit something with my Arcanite reaper, shock it and it's dead... but I'm looking at lvl 10 and onwards.
Is there any detailed talent spec (what to take when and when to respec) on leveling a shaman the fastest. Should I start off as ele and switch to enhance later? Or stay with the same enhance spec the entire time? Or stay with ele for that matter?

Also I'm looking at glyphs. I don't really see any useful glyph for lvl 15 (windfury and stormstrike both come later and I don't see myself lightning bolting a lot at first).
The only good shamans I know leveled years ago and they say a lot has changed. Also heirlooms can change the way you level fastest (like staying affli at high level as a lock if you have heirlooms instead of going demo).
    Thanks in advance

    Re: Questions regarding shaman leveling

For the first 10 levels or so are just as you said, auto-attack and shock and its dead.

After level10 you should start speccing into the Elemental talents and start wearing the caster gear (if you have the heirloom SP trinkets aswell it helps a lot). You oughta level to 30-40 quite fast as Elemental by questing and DPSing/Healing in random dungeons.

At 15 a good glyph to pick up is the Glyph of Stoneclaw Totem. The shield it gives really saves you from taking any unnecessary damage. Glyph of Water Shield is decent aswell as Elemental.

At 30 you can either spec into Enhancement and enjoy some 2h WF pwnage (which can be pretty random and maybe a bit frustrating at times) or continue as Elemental in caster gear till around 40-41.

At 40/41 you get DW and/or Stormstrike. I personally had some fun at lvl40 by picking up Stormstrike at first as it is quite powerful even with a 2hander at those levels. Now all you gotta do is put all your awesome melee heirloom gears on and just stormstrike your way through mobs. I also suggest you pick up dual-spec at 40 so you can continue healing in randoms whenever needed.

At lvl60 you get the most fun spell ingame which is Feral Spirit. It makes soloing elites and world PvP a cakewalk. If it can be killed in 40seconds it will die.

Basicly lvl60-80 is just about as fast in both specs. I personally did it as Elemental as I had done 1-60 as Enhancement.

At 75 I strongly suggest you spec Elemental if you have the gear for it, as Lava Burst is friggin' OP. Lighting Bolt + Fire Shock -> Lava Burst = Dead mob.

At 60+ you can solo most Elite quests quite easily in either spec, but Enhancement has an easier time doing so.

I'll post some specs later on once I get home from work!

    Thanks for the quick reply
My main is a paladin and I leveled him years ago (when druids and pallies were the hardest classes to level) so I can take some RNG melee ability (Seal of Casino ftw).
Like I said I have all the heirlooms, including the caster ones (staff with 30 sp enchant, dual trinkets cloak and shoulders) so I'll give ele a try at first.
I have some mates leveling with me and one is a priest, so I don't think I need to heal anything in dungeons
Also I happened to have stoneclaw glyph made on my warrior while leveling inscr I'll give it a go.

BTW, regarding totems... Should I throw them down somewhere random and find mobs around them or just throw them down at any given time before attacking anything?

Dont bother with totems unless you can pull many mobs near them. Waste of mana against 1 or 2 mobs.

    Re: Questions regarding shaman leveling

yeah, if you are against one or two mobs, dont bother with totems. If its an elite or something, then ofc drop your totems. I personally loved enhancement from 1~75. Its true that it gets boring until 40, but I had fun occasionally 1 shotting ppl in pvp with my big ass axe. At 40 and 41, thats when it really gets fun. If you pvp as enhance while you level, its really fun. You basically faceroll ppl until they die, which is pretty fast. Wolves, always always always the best choice! They are super fun, they have a stun, a 60% movement increase and a taunt. Maelstrom weapon is good to keep you alive too. But, in the end, its up to u. you like melee or caster?
Bring the player, not the class. *And a shaman.
    DEMACIA!!!!!

Completely agree with this. I never used totems while leveling except against some elementals that were immune to me Totems are great for grouping/raiding.

I leveled completely Elemental, then went Resto for end game.

    Re: Questions regarding shaman leveling

    I prefer melee over casters.
So I started off as enhancement but am still putting talents in stuff that applies to all specs :P (int, crit, instant spirit wolf).
I had some mana problems at one point, but now with water shield it's going a lot better..

Question though: what shock/weapon buff should I use? Most of it of course depends on the level of the skill (IE: frost shock does WAY more damage atm than earth shock) but what's the general guideline? I'm still running around in melee gear atm.
And could someone still post a talent spec? Everything is fine up till now, but I'm wondering when I should start throwing points in elemental weapons.

    Re: Questions regarding shaman leveling

My shaman is 38 atm and I'm really happy with it.
3x Lightning Bolt and occasionally an earth shock and the mobs are dead.

But I can't wait to switch to enhancer with 40. Got the hunterset, 2H axe, 2x Maces in my bags already :P

Up until you get SS, switch between ES and FS depending on which does higher damage. Use Flame Shock when fighting an elite mob, though as usually if the entire dot gets to tick, it does more damage for the cost of one gcd.
