Trade chat spammed by LFMs

Hey everyone

I don't know about the other servers out there, but on darksorrow - EU we imo have some kind of a problem. Spamming and using /trade to everything else than trading, like LFM/LFGs, guild recruitment or some advice in general. It's like the LFG, guild recruitment and the general channel just got merged into the /trade cuz you can see it in every major city and dala/shatt. Sometimes I'm tempted to leave the trade channel due spam, but since i ain't a member of a guild I PuG all the time and don't wanna miss a "LFM icc10 need tank last spot". Sure, i could use the LFG channel. But hey!! That's dead!!!.

Earlier today I had a delicate cardinal ruby in my mailbox from AH (didn't got sold), I was in dala with HS on CD and didn't wanted to find a Mage so I could get to SW and put it back on AH cheaper than before. So I thought "hey, why not use the tradechannel? And I did. Made a macro and pressed it about every 4 sec. Then I got a whisper from a lvl 1 bank alt: "use AH and stop spamming". I was like, WTF? I used the trade chat properly and what it's supposed to be uses for.

So, should blizz in your opinion redesign the trade chat some way to stop the endless LFM some-random-raid in /trade?

Trade chat is the spam channel, it is never going to change. Remember the world defense channel? That was the spam channel back then, now it's trade chat. /lichking There must always be a spam channel

Seriously, who gives a damn? It's been the figurehead of spam for years, that's not about to change, these days the AH is the best thing to use if you're buying/selling something, especially with the recent changes to it.

Also, you said you made a macro and pressed it every 4 seconds... I'm not surprised someone told you to stop spamming, who wants to see someone selling ONE gem, every 4 seconds?

That might be common place in fairness, I haven't been in trade chat in months and have no intention of going back - It's full of those I hate the most;

Spammers, goldsellers, puggers, and douche bags.

I don't know why blizzard just doens't bring back the old global LFG way back in Vanilla. Sure it was spammed a fuck ton, but at least you were ALWAYS in it, so even if some guy wasn't looking for a raid specifically, he could still find you in the most mundane places in WoW. With /2 being the main source of joining pugs, you have to sit in a major city, and be bored, while you could be out questing/ grinding/ exploring, hell anything is better then laps around Dalaran.

EDIT: Also, after reading through your second paragraph about "spamming" your macro for selling something, I would suggest letting what you said in trade get knocked off your chat box before saying it again, thats my general rule of thumb (Although not everyone's chat box's are the same size, it gives you a good threshold between spamming and selling)

Obviously any kind of spam is bad, no one likes it, if its for trading or for LFM's

On my server, trade channel is used for random discussion, LFM's, and trading. Usually only during peak hours of the day the chat spam will be really bad, in that case just deal with it and log on an alt or go somewhere else, not that difficult, you don't HAVE to sell your cardinal ruby AT THAT MOMENT. Just put it on AH or try again a different time, but ti shouldn't require any sort of intervention on Blizzard's end.

get ignoremore, and just start ignoring the spammers... There are loads of bad ougs, led by bad ppl, you don't want to group with them, so ignore them. There are some people who spam macros with WTB gems etc, (i do it myself), ignore them, but remember their name incase you have something to sell. Anal/dirge etc=spam=ignore. Ignore is the thing that solves this problem;D

There already was a LFG channel. It didnt completely worked as Trade Chat, overall, has the highest population of player, at all time.

I get your point my chatbox ain't big, but on darksorrow - EU 4 secs is like 30 lines

Meh. I'm honestly more put out by the folks that take their "LFM" message and spam it three times in a row, because they think somehow that will attract folks to their raid faster. Just serves to fill up that chat box that much faster.
