    Delete or Ebay @ Quit?

So I just decided to quit WoW for good last night. I've done so once before and was clean for around 5 months but decided to come back 2 months ago.

Whats different this time is the fact that I decided to delete all my characters to ensure that I wont be coming back.

I had 5 lvl80s: DK, Druid, Shaman, Mage and Rogue. (and a lvl30+ Lock, Warrior and a Hunter in full heirlooms)

3 of my level 80s were quite decently geared in mostly ICC10/25 and ToC25 loot, having a GS from 5200 to 5800. The other 2 were mostly in badge/toc gear with a GS of around 4600-4900. All of them had Dual-Spec, Epic flying and 2 professions maxed.
Most also had quite good gear for their secondary spec aswell and the Shaman and the Mage had quite decent PvP gear, 1800 arena weapons and all. The Shaman also had some decent Raid achievements from Ulduar, Naxx and ToC aswell as a 310% mount.

I'm not sure how much I could have gotten out of the account had I decided to sell it on Ebay or by some other means. Some said around 200-300 euros, though I doubt it?

Anyways, I sold all my gear and sent all my gold (about 14k in gold and another 10k in assest such as gems, primordials and other materials) to some close in-game friends (who I still keep in contact with on MSN/Facebook).

What I'd like to know is... Am I completely mad having deleted all these great characters and effectively wasted the 2++ years I've spent playing this damn game?

At first I thought about selling the account, but then I realized I dont really want some random scrub/kid playing on my characters I've spent so much time and effort on. I made them, leveld them, geared them so I should be the one who puts an end to them.

So what I'm asking you guys is this:

If you were to quit playing World of Warcraft, would you sell your account, delete all your characters, or just leave them be? And why?

For someone wanting to quit WoW, you sure do like bragging about your characters.

I 'quit' about a year ago before wrath came out, sold it on ebay, got 200 quid for it. I...'accuired' my account back a few months after ulduar came out, purely because I wanted to see what I was missing.

Personally I do think you are mad, it's not like Call of Duty where you can put it down and a few weeks later think, 'ohh, i know what i haven't played in a while...' you should of just cancelled your account and if you want to come back, just get the scroll resurrection thingy
    1) Load the amount of weight I would deadlift onto the bench
    2) Unrack
    3) Crank out 15 reps
    4) Be ashamed of constantly skipping leg day

Offer them to your friends, they may want extra alts without the pain of levelling/gearing.

Sell your account. If you decide to come back, you can always get your account back with your billing report and photo id. Money you made with it is yours to keep. ;D

Just do like me: get hacked and then quit because you realize how bad the game really is.

Now I'm addicted to Robot Unicorn Attack instead though

If just deleting the game doesnt prevent you from returning to it, deleting or selling your account wont neither, cause its so easy to hit 80 in no time and get ready for icc.

Accounts don't go for much these days, like they did back in the old days. Something top of the line and well geared only goes for about $150USD. You shouldn't delete or sell them though, you'll regret it, without a doubt.

I heard that if you sell to one of those game companies and you "acquire" it back, they will send a collections agency after you. Or did you just sell it to some dumb kid?

If the kid you sell to isn't dumber than you, you will discover that what you've just accomplished is termed 'fraud' by the legal community.

Personally I would have given it to a trusted guildy to use as an alt when they needed, assuming they take over paying for it of course.

Well, what I would do - I'd sell it since I need the money. But if I didnt I would keep it, you never know if you will come back. But yeah, if I 110% know that I will never come back - I'd sell.

My friend got engaged with his GF after getting LK 10 HM down 3 days before (this is when it is at 10% Buff), well he sold his account for $1800 AUD which was pretty fare. But yeah, depends if you are quitting for good.

A friend of mine quit a while back and said he sold his account for like $1500. And he didn't even have any icc gear.

technically what they're doing is illegal aswell, so they aren't exactly going to go to the feds about it, and they stand to lose a lot more than I do if I go to blizzard involved. So I figured they'll keep their mouth shut if they aren't stupid.

edit: and how will their intelligence reflect onto me working out what I did was 'fraud'?
