It's not like we're loading a vanilla copy of vBulletin and calling it a day. The admins have been working for a few months now coding stuff that we want/need into the base vBulletin package.

I must say i really love the new layout, but the site seems to be experiencing huge time between clicking on different sections of the forums, but i assume thats down to uploading things.

Haha, looks like all sites are getting a makeover these days. Google, Wikipedia, Youtube, DeviantART and now MMO.

The new layout takes some getting used to, but it does look a lot smoother. I like it.

You won't find all problems during testing, some stuff is just unnoticed or needs to be stressed to appear, give it a few days/weeks, and i'm sure they will fix it, they've been talking about stuff on IRC :P

You people that are complaining have no clue about the logistical backend of the website. SMF was a major speed bump. Mostly everything Adys and Dinnerbone added to the site was a really ugly hack. SMF was also never built to hold a community of this size. It was slowly collapsing on itself.

The move to vBulletin wasn't just a refresh for the site. The move to vBulletin allows Adys and Dinnerbone to do what they do best, by allowing them to add more stuff to the site for all of you. The move to vBulletin also allows for a large community without the fear of the software being a limiting factor.

If you read anything about what Boubouille said, you would realise that the migration to vBulletin was inevitable.
They had to switch from SMF to vBulletin because the community had grown to such a size, that in the case of a big event, Cataclysm Beta, the old SMF forum would have collapsed.
Now quit your whining, because we're staying with vBulletin.

I sold to Major League Gaming, and I'm now working for them as the manager of the web site. I'm very happy with this decision, because it made my life considerably easier. Nothing really changed on the site. Every now and then, you will see me going crazy about a MLG tournament or something like that, but basically, I'm free to do whatever I want on the site as long as it's not totally stupid.

I'm 90% sure that this one is just cheaper or something like that(or they just made a cheaper offer, or, as Boub said, the old host might not be able to handle the traffic so it was cheaper to move here then anything else), while maintaining the functionality. I'd do that if I were the owner in described circumstances.

Really, it's going to take some getting used to, but suck it up, MMO-Champion is too good of a forum to go down the tubes just because some people were being nostalgic and didn't want change, so the server crashed.

SMF is free. vBulletin is not. Unsure how that could be cheaper.

The site didn't move. It's still located on the same servers as always. It's just running different software.

Ever heard of "atmosphere"? This one's atmosphere is different. Kinda colder. The previous version was neat. Might sound like bs, but if you listen to what you feel when you do different stuff you'll figure that the atmsophere would change and you'd do things differently. Hell, if MMO design was red instead of green - we'd get a lot more nerdraging, qqs and just aggressive replies and comments.

I like it. Very smooth looking. Easy to get used to.

Also. I personally like changes. Without change life feels redundant.
