Wow, after dungeon leveling on my healer..

You know, after dungeon leveling with my healer.. I really REALLY appreciate how much better blizzard got with their dungeon design later in the game. I mean, yeah everything is more streamlined and the bosses aren't just regular mobs with higher health pools later on, but the thing that killed me and really made me practically beg for outland was the dungeon length! I mean, alot of those instances take freakin' forever to finish... Sunken Temple... Gnomeregan...Wailing caverns.. >_<

Although in retrospect, it also makes me realize how spoiled I've become. XD When I first played vanilla wow, I remeber it taking like 3 hours to clear an instance, with breaks and planning and crowd control.

BRD back in the days... took half a day if you cleared it.

Nowadays the dungeons that really bug me are WC and BFD, even with a good high dps group they take forever. Too much spaced out casters in WC, so tanks can't really gather mobs up, and BFD is full of runners.

    Yeah, we've gotten spoiled.

You know, in that regard, and with the size of the instance.. it wouldn't be all too hard for blizzard to recycle the instance as an 80 raid if they get lazy...

Please don't get lazy blizzard. XD

I kind of miss longer, difficult instances. Places like Shadow Labyrinth hit a nice spot in terms of length, but managed to get things somewhat streamlined. I remember half my time in BRD was following people and hoping that they knew which way to go, the other half was realizing that people were following me....which meant we were lost. I also really miss The living are here!

I agree that the design is much better now, I just wish it wasn't so carefree and short.

Oh god, so many bad memories from that quote... Every time it came up in a pug, you knew you were probably about to wipe... >_< It still traumatizes me to this day...

Which is why my friend has the yell macro'd and proceeds to do it in every instance we run. XD

Yeah, some of the classic instances are kinda insane. Recently ran Wailing Caverns on my young priest and even with some people geared like mad with heirlooms, it still took sooooooooo long to finish.

I don't get why people complain that they're long. It's not as if they're long because 500miles of running between each pull, they're long because there's alot of mobs to kill. Which means lots of XP. Which means lots of levelling.

You can see why people complain that the heroics may be too long, after all, for most the end is all that matters. But when levelling, the journey is just as, if not more, important than the end.

Words cannot describe how much I utterly hate BRD. There was so much to hate about it its hard to know where to begin. The size is the first thing that comes to mind. Also the fact that in order to unlock the whole thing you have to run the instance multiple times. the mobs levels run anywhere between 50 - 60 insuring that some of the under leveled people will be unable to complete it or even be able to hit the mobs. its the only place to get the BOE fiery enchant that everybody needed on because they were an enchanter or they wanted to sell it on the AH. The damn coffer keys that would almost always leave you with 1 or 2 missing to actually summon the boss. The fact that there is no map and most people are completely clueless as to were to go and what to do. Seriously, how many people here without looking it up know how to open the door in the bar room without a rogue? 95% of most pugs for that instance disbanded after the bar room and because of that, for the longest time I actually thought that was the end of the instance. I could keep going but this is just bringing up bad memory's.

I like some of the old instances though. ZF , VC , Scholo are all pretty cool. I do hate brd though , too much boring trash. And if you ever try a complete dire maul run prepare to be bored haha.

I love BRD. I spent about 5+ levels in there on my lock when I started playing in BC. It was always a question of how far we would get. I think after 10 or so runs, I finally managed to get past that room of dwarves... oh good times.

But yeah, I too after a while start wanting those new short dungeons from BC and WotLK. I really liked what they did with the ICC dungeons, you can do it as one long dungeon if you want, but it has clear divisions in it. Hopefully they'll do more of these.

I really enjoyed the old dungeons, but the sheer size of some was a bit of a problem on an older server (BRD, Mara, DM).
