    Cool H Putricide 10 - positioning

    It's been an interesting week.

We've killed H Putricide once before, after only 7 attempts.

Yesterday we did like 20 attempts on him and weren't able to kill him in 2 hours.

People are mostly dying to green slimes. I don't understand how. The MT tanks putricide under the vat of green slime. When the green slime appears, everybody stacks up near it and dps's. We all point our backs in the same direction so we get knocked back in the same location.

And yet, people still die. Half the time, the green slime will choose somebody with Unbound Plague, who is off standing by themselves. Of course they always die because people don't get there to help soak in time. I've tried having the prot paladin use Divine Sacrifice when that happens, and sometims it helps, sometimes not.

The other half of the time, people just die from green slime anyway, even if they seem to be stacked up.

Whats the problem? What can we do better? Where do you tank Putricide when a green slime is coming, and where do you have people stack? Thanks for the help.

I don't think everyone stacking up is needed. How much melee dps do you have? 1 or 2 + the green slime target should be enough to soak, that will give your ranged more time to dps. The green slime should only reach it's target 2 times max, maybe 3 during phase change. Also have everyone focus on green slime first during phase change.

Unless your heavy on melee dps the tank doesn't need to follow the green slime with putricide either, that's mostly just for 25 mans for cleaves and such. I can't really give you more advice without seeing your raid comp.

3 melee and 3 ranged DPS.

We do most of that though. Except we stack up much more than that, and people still somehow die. I'll try having just the melee soak so the ranged get more DPS time.

Do snake traps still work for extra soakers? If so, they help =]

We usually stay close to table and dps boss from here who's tanked at the our right side. We are kinda close, so we can pass plague easily.

If a person with plague is targeted by slime, someone needs to pick it up from him immediately and run from rest of group to prevent mass passing plague (don't worry, you'll survive the explosion, it's 25% buff -.-)

That's why you should be standing close to each other (not stacked), so you can group up quickly. Eventually you can use hunter's snake trap.

I highly recommend Holy Pala+Disc Priest combo for all of the fights in 10HM

If the green slime spawns, make sure you're at the wall where the brown slime spawns. DPS it down before it reaches the player targeted (should be easy!).
Other than that, it's a communication fight. Speak to eachother where the plague is going and who needs to step out of group hugs to get it.

edit; On transition, stand near the door. Brown-slime target kite it away and everyone (except for player with plague) group hug for the first explosion of the green ooze (dead it before it reaches another player after that).

Don't stack up where the slime spawns, form a narrow V with the slime being the point, tank/boss/melee on one end point and ranged/healers on the other. Ranged/healers should be standing loose enough to not screw up Hot Potato Plague, but not so loose that they can't collapse once the slime picks it's target either. Slime picks it's target, ranged/healers collapse on the target and melee chase the slime. If the person with the plague gets picked then you need to pass the potato before collapsing, something you cannot do in time if everyone but the plagued person is standing where the slime spawns.

If the slime picks a melee, because of the narrow V setup it's not a big deal for ranged/heals to collapse on the boss and have the added benefit of the tank there to spread the damage even further.

Your raid leader needs to be on the ball though, and know at all times who has the Hot Potato Plague so that he can call it to be passed off before the collapse if the person with it is the one that gets chosen by the slime. If your raid leader is -really- on the ball, he'll have the kite target of the orange slime pick up the plague as well and run with it, so that you don't lose anyone soaking and can even pass it to the tank as he runs by if the green slime didn't pick a melee.

Don't stack everyone on the green slime, just the melee and tank for the initial soak if it's on any of them. Be sure during transitions that the tank is following the green slime for soak duties. It sounds like you may be too far spread out, from ranged being setup as far away as possible and melee being knocked back so far out of position that they can't catch up. If that's an issue tell the melee to work on getting knocked back toward the middle instead of the sides of the room to help ease that a bit.

Cool guys, thanks for the tips. The V-formation sounds pretty good, and/or standing by the door. We'll be incorporating this stuff tonight.

I'm the raid leader and usually on the ball, though I'm also driving abom... got a lot of stuff on my plate for this fight. Those are good tips as well, thanks.

First...I only read a couple responses, sorry if any of this is repeated.

Okay....the green oozes need to die asap, even with only 10 man gear, the 25% buff is more than enough to kill the green oozes if the dps are targeting it as soon as it comes up.

There are only two reasons you should stand outside of the spawn radius...one is if you are the one with the plague, the other is if you are a hunter, because of the dead zone. These people outside NEED to be max ranged and need to know when the green ooze is coming so they can get max ranged from the ooze, not from the boss himself. Make sure the plauge does NOT get passed during a green ooze, that person needs to hold it and in a place where no one can get knocked into him....you do not send the whole raid to stack w/ the person that has the plague, and shouldnt need to.

Also, this is probably the easiest (and most logical) fight to two heal in the entire instance other than lootship, DBS, and maybe rotface, even on heroic...while there may be a fair amount of damage at times, its very very predictable. You probalby won't even get a plauge in p1 because we dps'ed him into p2 before that even came up, and by the time he is actually active in p2, he could be 65% or lower. Not to mention we got a lot less oozes and they died, very very fast.

Was a simple kill after changing to the V formation, with melee on one endpoint and ranged spread out 3-5 yards on the other endpoint. Had a few wipes due to a healer not paying attention to the new strategy, and standing on the complete opposite side of the green slime then the rest of the raid (did the slime choose her? Of fucking course it did.)

Thanks for the help all, good strats!
