why does everyone hate cata lore?

I hear a lot of issues with the lore of cataclysm and everyone is "lollor", or "they killed lore in cata" and similar posts. I was just wondering what your hate about the cataclysm lore or what you feel makes it so terrible.

I think that the main cause of this concern/worry/hate is that this is really new lore development in terms of content where the other expacs where just a continuation of warcraft 3 for the most part (especially bc and wotlk), and people feel like anything new is auotmatically bad due to nastalgia.

So what do you think is terrible about the new lore and more importantly what would you change to make it better or more to what you feel it should be.

I think it's a combination of Internet-Doucebags who hate everything and
that Cataclysm kinda starts new lore. Everything we did in BC and WotLK was just finishing the story line of Arthas and Illidan that started in WC3.

So people are afraid of new stuff, and therefore neglect it.

Exactly. I was once fired from a job because a handful of people complained about my sense of humor. After I was fired a mob of people came asking what happened to me that they loved me. I was a funny cashier that was fast, which was rare in that grocery store.

The critics will always be more vocal than the fans. Besides these same people say Vanilla killed the lore. Burning Crusade killed the lore Wrath of the Lich King killed the lore. Now they say that Cataclysm will kill the lore. NOTHING BLIZZARD DOES WILL MAKE THEM HAPPY!

Because it's new, people don't know what to expect, and they don't like change. They like facing the same enemies under the same circumstances since wc1.

With all the "xxx killed the lore" you'd think they would just count WoW as pixellated road kill and keep driving past on their way to quitting for 6 months and then coming crawling back. It's either a sadomasochistic love for people punishing themselves or just purely done for attention - or possibly both.

I don't care - there's more lore contained in Deathwing's chin than there is in most other MMOs

I do not see how Cata is "killing the lore." There's nothing so blatant as the draenei being shoe-horned into the storyline... so what's the problem exactly? Deathwing has been in the lore from the start. He's back. He's tearing shit up. The Lich King has been defeated, replaced by a new keeper of the damned. Politics are changing the face of the Horde and the Alliance. The story is just plain advancing and in no truly OMG CRAZY ways.

"tauren paladins, whut?" Yes, they're getting paladins. Or their version of paladins. They're still taking a 'tribal warrior' slant and working it in to their existing religion (that of the Earthmother). Really, their belief system has been sadly NEGLECTED in the past expansions, now it is getting its due.

OT: More or less, you have people who started playing Warcraft when Warcraft 3 came out and they see the death of Arthas as the "end" of WoW lore. They do not realize that there is also Titan lore, Old God lore, Dragon lore, Elemental lore, lore from EVERY race, every faction has lore surrounding it, the game is a treasure trove of lore, but to those who played WC3 first, it all ends with Arthas even though Deathwing was a more powerful enemy before Arthas was even thought of.

we're just now starting to realize the theme of expansions: X bad guy suddenly decides to kill everyone, so we go kill him. we're starting to get into bad guys people have less prior knowledge of from just playing WoW.

I love cataclysm lore, im really excited atm as to where Blizzard are taking Deathwing, apparantly (not breaking the NDA here) during the Press event it was said that Deathwing is now going to come out from the Maelstrom, as apposed to north of stormwind. The only thing i dislike about Cataclysm lore is that its wiping out a lot of old lore, i think atm think about it like starting a new job, after being in a job for 5 years that you liked.
