    CPU Type: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz
    CPU Speed (GHz): 2.353
    System Memory (GB): 6
    Video Card Model: ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
    Desktop Resolution: 1680x1050
    Hard Disk Size (GB): 1TB
    Hard Disk Free Space (GB): 777.572

    25-30 FPS in Dal (with a lot of characters in it), ultra settings.

    With shadows taken down about two notches, FPS in Dal goes up to 30-40.

    If you want to take advantage of more than the two cores type this in your console.
    Code:
    /console m2Faster 3
    0 = Standard
    1 = Dual Core
    2 = Tri Core
    3 = Quad Core

    Its not required anymore since I think 3.3.0 (or 3.3.1 forgot which)

    DX11 mode makes zones load SUPER faster (like empty dalaran takes 3-4 seconds, DX11 makes it 0-1 seconds) but the draw back is my total fps drops by like 50% not too sure why. No noticable graphic improvement/changes. (stared at a few npc's/players/"upgrade model npc's"/ looked at the water/fog effects/the ground/sky etc

    also random crashes. I like to play my beta crash free.. while its still crash free :P

    In WoW, CPU > GPU to a certain point. You don't need much of a CPU to run WoW well, but you're GPU will almost never be your bottle neck in WoW unless it's onboard. If you do not have a discrete video card than that will be the best upgrade. You can spend about $1,000 dollars on a PC and be able to run WoW on max settings with high/medium shadows while running vent and recording/broadcasting a raid.

    WoW is on a poorly optimized engine by today's standards. That's why you see people with 1500 dollar rigs having trouble running WoW at "totally" max settings (shadows maxed, maxed resolution of the video card, AA all the way up, etc).
    They'll call me Freedom, just like a waving flag.

    yeah if I turn shadows off gpu goes down to like 5-10% usage ;/

    Didn't know the i7 930 was an 8-core... unless Windows has a strange way of documenting CPU cores.

    I can easily get away with upping most of the settings except the Shadow Detail.

    For the record, I have a Q6600, 512MB 9800GT, 4GB DDR2 RAM and Win 7 Ultimate. Seems to perform a lot better than under Win XP.

    They are still tinkering with DX11, I played a little bit with dx11 enable it looks good, but it still crashes often. So when they get DX11 stable I will go back to DX11.

    i7 is 4 core "8 thread" cpu, can work on 8 different "single processes" at once. soorta speaking :P

    When are they gonna make support for SLi cards

  15. #35
    Considering that the GPU handles graphics... I would assume GPU

    I think CPU will focus on the engine, stats, and HDD related data movement.

    nope, they dont :/

    No support for either SLi or Crossfire

    Well that is just fucking ridiculous.

    i7 use hyperthreading wich simulates extra cores, so the i7 930 has 4 physical cores and 8 virtual cores. with my i7 980x i se 12 virtual cores.

    I'm thinking of upgrading my graphic card, should I get the best available or isn't that necessary (I don't really want to spend more than I need)? Right now I can easily raid 25 man raids with ultra settings except shadows.

    Thanks in advance,

    Just wondering did any of you notice a fps boost / drop when switching between cataclysm and wotlk?
