Wintergrasp Commendations

Anyone on Beta currently that can relay what the effect of them are atm, or if they are removed even?
I´ve saved up a stack and im trying to find out if saving them has any value, should i just
spend them on some alt for free gearing when it hits 80 (if i get one up there before Cata), or do the boring thing...
buy gems :/ (i´ve bought loads of gems from badges and gathered a pot of gold so i don´t really wanna get rid of
the Wintergrasp Commendations if they are useful later).
Tried to find any blue post about these but no luck yet, might get lucky with a in-game ticket if all else fails.
