Yeah, I'd expect blizzard making some Old God Patriarch looking like an actual Cthulhu (or actually a winged faceless one with more face tentacles) and naming him with something that resembles Nyarlathotep.

I haven't read the entire thread, but I saw something silly and I had to correct it.
There is no plausible way Old Gods made Azeroth. They are parasites. If they could create such things, they would simply consume them as they did so...instead of creating a planet and then feeding off of it.
By Blood and Honor We Serve!
how would azeroth be an old god..
Well its not beyond impossible, the titans did say quite clearly there was a reason they could not destroy the gods less they risk destroying the entire planet.
The heart of the planet may infact be the heart of the god that rules it. It does have an eeire irony that the greatest old god (excluding the ones from the other planes/worlds) would be a planet itself, fighting you and turning everything to madness gradually.
That said, it isnt a very logical possibility, but it isnt impossible, just improbable.
In the case of the old gods, NOTHING is easy to determine, because unlike Sargeras or TLK they have a very unknown plan to us and equally we never truley know exactly what it is they want. Theoretically there is no way to kill them and Yog-saron apparently taunts you in his death implying that at some point he is going to return.
The gods are an eeire mystery of events, they reprisent something akin to Starcrafts Zerg and this has always been a popular speculation of mine:
Considering in Starcraft lore, a race known as the Xel'Naga created the Zerg and Protoss but were sent from the cosmos to hide away in silence, I suspect that the two universes are connected by a common factor:
Consider the number of letters in the words Xel Naga and Old Gods, now that isnt enough really to go with a full speculation but theres more!
The Old Gods are something of a mutating species that obsesses with attempting to corrupt and warp things into the perfect species. The Xel Naga created the Protoss and Zerg with a very similar intention.
The only known thing of the Old Gods is that they oppose the Titans for their mechanical lifestyle, and in an eeire logic, they actually gave the world of Azeroth its freedom of choice.
The Xel Naga let their creations roam free to monitor their progress and existance, but too much freedom eventually lead them to be cast away by their spawn.
Conclusion:
The Gods, may indeed be the Xel Naga of Starcraft, linking the two universes together as has been a broad speculation between certain parties. The Old Gods certainly resemble Zerg which according to the lore of the Xel Naga is closer to their origional species when it was first created.
Since we know the existance of the gods is broad and galactic, they are likley star-travelers like the Titans, the Draenei, the Legion and many other sci-fi reletive plane-shifting elements in Warcraft. I think truthfully the only thing I can conclude of the gods and their agenda is forced evolution.
They want to change the world, to rule it, to bend it to their will.
Given the storyline connecting the Xel Naga and the Old Gods, this is certainly not beyond impossible to assume both races share a very, very similar belief.
