Pet control in BGs and arenas

How do you do it? Who do you put the pet on? How do you know when to put it on someone and when to park it out of los? Etc etc Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

    Depends primarily on the pet.
Succubus and Felhunter you dont tend to let freely attack a target, for fear of draining their mana.
As long as they are parked a sufficient distance to avoid aoe effects, primarly stuns/fears then they do not need to be, nor should they be out of line of sight of the enemy.
If the enemy cannot line of sight them, neither can your pets them, taking longer to do whatever they were going to.

I know some warlocks park the felhunter on a healer/high damage caster and Turn off Shadowbite and only turn it on when going for a kill and they know a devour is not needed. Having Shadowbite on causes a GCD on your pet every time it bits this will delay your Devour until the GCD is over which can be devastating in a clutch situation when that 0.5~s might be the difference between your healer getting an instant heal on you or you dead cause the devour sheep was too slow.
