Possible Caster Legendary: An Off Hand?

Now that i have your attention.

It had been "confirmed" some time ago that the first legendary to "drop" in Cataclysm will be for casters (or DPS casters more specifically as the mace of Ulduar was aimed for healers).

People have been trying to guess whether or not it would be a Dagger, Sword or Mace etc.

Well... no-one has ever thought of it possibly being an offhand item.

We have all seen this model before, but look at the finger/thumb arrangement. It is clearly used in the offhand. Sure, it could easily be an offhand "fist" class weapon for Rogues/Shamans but still, wouldnt it be interesting for the legendary to actually be an offhand with caster stats?

Could be, though I think it is more likely to be a fist weapon. Likely because if it were legendary given its look it would likely come from Deathwing himself, however Deathwing will not be downed in the initial release of the game.

No. It will not be the item you linked. It's going to be a dagger, or something like that.

In theory, a "caster legendary" is something all caster dps can use so its probably a dagger.
If this was the legendary offhand what would the poor ele shammies do! (yay legendary shield!)

What is it with peoples hard on for that stupid hand thing, doesn't even look that great, plus blizzard would never make an offhand legendary since you never see it, would remove the novelty from it.

I dont think it will be an off hand, or better yet I hope its not. Not exactly legendary to have an off hand is it.

Just because this item is possibly an off hand item doesn't mean it's going to be the Legendary. Unless they change what weapons classes can use, it will be a Dagger or Staff as those are the only options every caster can use, sans the paladin (but it's supposed to be a DPS item). Even the staff bit I am reluctant on as it will make shaman upset they can't use a shield (boo hoo, legendary, get over it).

well personally i dont think they would do a legendary offhand since no shaman caster would want it.

OT: An off-hand would be ideal as it would allow all casters to use it, even if it looked kind of odd on a Shaman or Palladin.

It obvious that theme of Cata is fistlceave and everything related with fist and cleave. So having Fist weapong with good model doesnt suprise me.

Why? It would have to be a dagger to not be caster class restrictive, and I don't see how a fucking dagger is caster iconic compared to a staff.

not really they could itemise it in a proper way as it looks spirit is the stat for healers and int for dps so load it with int and make it a dps weapon.

Every class can use an Offhand just so you know, including shamans.

Its not got a weapon or armor proficiency attached to it.

And im not saying it has to be an offhand... I said it is obviously a Rogue/Shaman fist class weapon but thought it would be interesting if Blizzard actually did take that route.
