    Question 10% SP buff??

So I'm aware that Demonic Pact and (?)Flametounge totem (or w/e totem is the SP booster from ele) are being changed to a 10% boost to your personal SP (instead of a % of the lock's SP or a set amount from the totem). But on the front page today they have the buff/debuff breakdown based on classes listed and Fire Mage is included in the 10% SP boost...

Did I miss something earlier? Is this in a new beta build that hasn't come through yet? I hope this isn't a typo, because this would be an awesome addition to fire, it's currently lacking any significant raid input other than personal dps (and the meh crit debuff). I already think mages are in a great spot for cata, this only sweetens the proverbial pot.

Plus...more shaman tears to sustain us xD

    EDIT:
Missed a 6% SP boost listed generically as Mage... (!)

you sound like some kid by talking about tears no shaman will crying over the lost of bl to mages its simply means you will be designd with bl in mind which was the bane of shamans since tbc
cus blizzard excuse to not buff shamans was that they bring bl
with cata moving away from the hybrid tax i dont see much shamans crying cus this addition only means they will buff shamans dps

what the hell are you on about? the guy was just asking where mages are getting the buff from in their build, because he can't find it. There was no whining or crying until you came along and started it retard.
Who is Chris Metzen? He is supposed to be Turkish. Some say his father was German. Nobody believed he was real. Nobody ever saw him or knew anybody that ever worked directly for him, but to hear Zarhym tell it, anybody could have worked for Metzen. You never knew. That was his power. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. And like that... poof! He's gone.

I was being humorous; not sure if you saw any shamans freak out over mages getting BL, but I sure did.

    edit: nvm. I'm an idiot.

the 6% spell power buff will be from arcane brilliance. However what the 10% is I have no idea.

I'm going to guess they have changed Arcane Intellect again.

I don't know what's going on with the timestamp on my last response, but:

Arc Brilliance for the 6%? Hmm...

If the 10% is from Arc int/brillance....not sure why it would be a fire specific buff. I could see blizz implementing something along the lines of "Imp Scorch - (already in use stuff) + When your Scorch crits your party and raid members' Spell Power is increased by 10%"

yep, i will go with this seeing as INT => sp there is no place for static sp buff in the game so you will get 6% baseline and 10% with fire talents

Do you happen to have a source for this? I'm sure more info will come soon, but I'm horrendously curious atm.

    EDIT:

Adding to this post since its position is annoying me

Arc Int was last noted as being a static mana pool increase instead of int (since int now equals SP). And any buff to increase the SP % and provide party benefits from Arc Int would be an arcane skill. I just don't know what to think... The scorch idea is more in line with Demo Pact, AI is more like Flametounge =/

I checked what are the buffs we already know about:

Burst Haste -- Mage - Time Warp
3% Damage -- Arcane Mage - Arcane Tactics
Mana Pool -- Mage - Arcane Intellect
Replenishment -- Frost Mage - Enduring Winter
    6% Spell Power -- Mage - ???
    10% Spell Power -- Fire Mage - ???

30% Cast Speed Slow -- Arcane Mage - Slow (with Nether Wortex)
5% Spell Crit Chance Taken -- Fire Mage, Mage (possibly Frost) - Improved Scorch, ??? (old Winter's Chill)
25% Healing Taken -- Frost Mage - Permafrost

My guess that Arcane Intellect will provide the 6% SP buff, as this is the only spell we use to buff party members. I don't see Mages getting a passive aura without talents. Probably Fire Mages receive a talent which buffs this to 10%. If they really want Fire Mages to buff Arcane Intellect, I would prefer that Arcane gets the 10% SP buff and give the 3% damage to Fire.

It also looks like they want the old Winter's Chill buff back in some form. It could also be a Water Elemental aura or a passive buff on the Waterbolt ability.

    ---------- Post added 2010-07-28 at 12:50 PM ----------

Thinking about the 6% and 10% SP buff it could also be an aura attached to Molten Armor, with Fire Mages getting a talent which increases it to 10%. But this could mean that every mage has to use Molten Armor in PvE.

Why wouldn't you use Moltem Armor in PvE?

Arcane Mages do more damage when the have more mana, and Mage Armor provides mana regen. So this could mean that Mage Armor is better for Arcane.

They stated somewhere in another blue post (too busy atm to find it, but its there somewhere....honest...) that fire mages would be getting a raid wide 10% SP buff equivalent to ToW / lock buff (both of which will be also fixed at 10%).

Just hasnt been put in yet.... this makes me happy

    85 pala (tank1); 85 DK (tank2; 85 priest (unused), 85Drood (heals); 85 lock (dps); 85 warrior (Tank3) 85 hunter ;83 Shammy (Ele/Resto);65 rogue
