Built new computer, Need Help! Win 7

Hello guys, thanks to your advice I went ahead and built my own pc. I am very happy with it, and it runs(making this post from it now), but it has a very annoying windows 7 error.

After I first installed windows 7, it booted and everything was wonderful. So I shutdown the computer, added a 2nd internal HD, and 2 external HD via usb. The computer began getting 1 second into the windows screen, would then shutoff, and reboot. At this point it would either crash again, or bring me to a "windows recovery error" screen. At the screen the option to repair did nothing but tell me it couldnt be repaired. The option to go to windows would bring me to windows.

It would crash 80% of the time.

I removed the 2nd internal(IDE), and disconnected the external HDs. All that was connected was USB keyboard, USB mouse, USB dvd drive, internal SATAII drive. Same error.

I reformatted the internal HD and reinstalled windows 7, same error.

I then put in the motherboard cd, and install the drivers. Error now only happens about 20% of the time. I then updated windows 7 drivers and my video card. Error still occurs. Thats not so bad but twice have gotten the blue screen and crashed too fast to read it. Both times was when I reconnected one of the external drives and was moving files.

I have a usb wireless card, I have to unplug and replug it in to get it to work, might just be that its not supported for win7.


What do I do?!?!
Should I reformat windows again? When I reformat the HD, should I delete the little 9mb partition as well as the large one?


Could it be the USB dvd drive?

What do I do? I cant find anything on google, the error is too broad, or I am too dumb

Make sure to install every driver from the CD that came with the motherboard except graphics drivers. Then install latest DirectX runtime from Microsoft, and finally install latest graphics driver from www.ati.com or www.nvidia.com - If Windows Update has drivers for any hardware components except graphics card (soundcard, LAN etc) install those.

It sounds like there's a problem with your motherboard drivers, or the motherboard could be physically broken (IDE/USB controllers). Or the disc/usb thingies you tried to plug in are broken.

I installed all the drivers from the CD that came with the motherboard.

I lets windows updated until only optional updates were left.

I updated the graphics driver from nividia.

Where do I go from here?

Anyone have any ideas? I am almost at the point of having to take the whole frigging thing apart, wait a week for a new motherboard, to then get yelled at by my OEM windows.

Right now I am going to try
1) install direct x
2) move the HD wire to a different port
3) put the usb connector on a different port
3) try a different HD

then I am out of options. I dont even know what the issue is because the error doesnt even happen all the time.

Are the drives for Windows 7 or Windows Vista? Some component vendors will stamp a Windows 7 certified sticker on the box but ship outdated driver disks with components.

I dont know, I guess ill have to go to the MB maker's site and look for drivers. The sticker is on the box for win7 x64.

Ok I went to the MB site and downloaded the newest drivers...

I then went and unplugged the USB dvd drive.

The computer may be fixed.

I restarted 7 times, all times were fine except for one that gave me the error, however this may have been due to restarting the computer before it had finished starting up.

I'll give it a few more days and see...I am going to feel shaky about this computer for a month now. Still better than waiting two weeks for a new MB and having to rebuild the whole thing.
