Okay so I am, out of curiosity wondering what would end up being highest dps, survival or marksman. If both specs had their BiS ilevel 277's or whatever.

Marksmen. I think. With all the arp on gear, I'm gonna say MM.
MM and if you can obtain ArP cap it gets quite a lead on the other two.
MM, though MM is awfully boring compared to Surv, and the difference isn't that big.
Amazing sig, done by mighty Lokann

Honestly i've seen 6k gs's of both pull 12k+ so its honestly what you prefer

theres a spreadsheet
MM does infact more dps at higer gear lvl's (due to the low arp scaleing for surv) however its very minior, do what ever you like.
Some ppl also say MM is boring, i dont quite agree, but W/E

no, but it's MM

Good hunters will train themselves to reduce movement by being in the right places at the right times, and using tricks like disengage to cut downtime. MM is far better than the other two specs, if you think it's boring and want to play something else, it's incorrect to think SV is only "barely" behind, as SV is no better than BM, which is the spec everyone gives shit to for being so bad.
Don't forget stutter steps to keep auto shot going off. Walk for 2 seconds - stop - auto goess off - repeat.
use an addon with swing timer to get used to it. Practice on ick when he does that.....thing.
This thread is pretty common, and the even more common answer of Marksman. When ArP capped, it pulls ahead of any other spec.
Something I found interesting about the SV BiS list though....
ArP: 1397
This monstrosity of a stat is so good when stacked to the cap that even Surv uses it in the end >.< Cant wait till they remove it I think ArP is just annoying.

My God, what a horrible creation. People seeing what they want? Thank God they tried to shy away from that. I know it pisses me off when I'm in an heroic raid, yet in the back of my head all I can think is 'some casual player is playing a heroic dungeon and not wiping.' -Vodkarn
This is largely incorrect.
Typically, 6k gs hunters will see at most a 800 dps difference between survival and marks on the spreadsheet. The gap between the two get even smaller during actual encounters because of movement. Your statement about "good hunters knowing how to move" is good advice, but completely irrelevant.
Moving, no matter which way, = decreasing steady shots. Steady shots are a -massive- amount of your dps when considering bleed damage. Survival on the other hand is far less dependent on being still, simply because of the mechanics of explosive shot, it's cooldown, an extra dot (black arrow), and the fact that you're using half the steady shots you use compared to marks.
Further, BM is so far behind both it isn't even funny. I'm not sure you understand the difference between a spreadsheet and actual real encounters. Just because a spreadsheet says "While standing still, such and such spec is able to climb up to X amount" doesn't mean that's what actually happens when you factor in target changing, moving, etc.

I'm not sure you understand the difference between good and bad hunters. See, here's the REAL difference between the pros and the...bads.
Pros = 95%+ of simulated DPS
Bads = 60% of simulated DPS
A "pro" hunter can do 15k as MM, he can also do 12-13k as BM, and 12-13k as SV. This is how they are simmed, and this is how they are played. If you play correctly, you can match an SV hunter as BM. If you play correctly, you can smash an SV and BM hunter as MM. That's why all the "pros" are MM, not SV. This "target swapping and movement ruining MM DPS" obviously does not apply to good hunters, or else they'd all be SV still.
I don't mean to be so crude, but the answer is literally in the numbers. Everyone is MM because it is the best. There are as many BM as SV hunters in raids because both specs are equally behind MM.

According to World of Logs, on most encounters MM are 2-4k ahead of Bm or Surv.
Correct me if i am wrong but i remember a blue post saying Surv was about 1% or so behind MM but what do i know cause spreadsheetseez.
