They are probably kicked out of Ironforge by Moira for some unknown reason. Magni liked the gnomes a lot, so I doubt he kicked them out. My guess is that Moira kicked the Gnomes out, because she then had to share Ironforge with them and Gelbin would have input in the politics of Ironforge, which she does not want.
