So on the front page is the passive ability to fly in the Old world zones and new cataclysm zones.
So, what do you guys think of this? Was it expected, or are you totally surprised and disappointed?

That's a point. It could just be an ability you automatically get upon reaching a certain level or quest prerequisite, we'll have to wait and see.

Expected it, though I highly doubt it will cost more than 1-2k anyway so not too disappointed. It'll make questing take a bit longer, depending on when it can be learned, though..

Actually, it makes questing impossible outside Vashj'ir. Hyjal has plently of questing zones that a flying mount is needed and Deepholm is built for flying mounts.

So, with this said, could just nothing more then a flag mechanic for those with Cataclysm, cutting the access to zones like Hyjal for those without the expansion.

Totally disappointed. Though I do understand the need for gold sinks in the game
for economic reasons. And honestly even 5000 gold is nothing these days even for
a casual person. If you have a gathering profession like mining you could make 5000g
in a couple days. 3 hours mining icecrown will usually net me about 1700g.
If you choose to spend little time at it, you can still do it in a matter of weeks.
If you choose to do a set of dailies like Argent or Oracle, you do it in a few weeks. If you
max your 25 dailies and run some dungeons every day, even quicker.

There is no cost listed with it however I think I remember a Blue post talking about how they don't want you flying in Azeroth until you reach higher lvls like 78 and up or something like that. By making you have to learn the ability, again no talk of cost at this point, it will help keep old world flying restricted to higher lvls. Ppl will not be able to roll a DK and hop on a flying mount to farm low lvl mats for professions and things like that, they'll have to run around on ground mounts like low lvl players too. It also keeps ground mounts from becoming pointless at lvl 60.
