    Question Winterspring

Besides removing Darkwhisper Gorge and maybe adding a few new quests, is Blizzard planning on giving any more love to this zone before cata is released? In my opinion it's one of the nicest vanilla zones in wow, so blizzard should at least update the models of the mobs there, such as the blue dragonflight with the wotlk models if their not going to make any other drastic changes. We all know that Blizzard is going to completely change the questing experience in Winterspring( Which before was terrible IMO), but is that all? What's you opinion?

Winterspring is in progress in the cata zone list :http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...36776&sid=2000

Just hope is not gonna be another Arathi or Dustwallow Marsh failed remake zone....
If you fishing for hours at the same place and you become confident that everything is fine and safe, its will mean one thing; You are wrong. Because i was actually sitting near of you for hours, cloaked in the shadow with a smile on my face and my daggers ready to strike. I did it many time before. I will do it again.....and again......

Yike, if they're working on it, I'm hoping they leave the Frostsaber rep alone... I don't really want to add that to the things I need to grind/farm before it comes out

    Thanks to Elyaan

    Thank you for the info.
It's good to see Blizzard is putting time into remaking a great zone.

There were few quests, and most of the time is eaten by the Yeti quests, but other than that, I always found Winterspring rather enjoyable.
But your duty to Azeroth is not yet complete. More is demanded of you... a price the living cannot pay.

Any idea if the Ruins of Kel'theril quest chain is still in game, or at least updated for Cata?

Ok so I was flying through Winterspring today doing my archeology stuff when I came across a mob that wasn't there before.

His name is Shade of the Spiritseaker. He sits on the top of a frozen waterfall shooting arcane balls, called Arcane Rollers, down the frozen waterfall. When you get hit by the Arcane Rollers you get knocked back.

Not sure what his is for atm.

Out of curiosity, what is failed about them? I have not seen anything myself.

And yeah, I hope they do some nice things with winterspring. It so beautiful there. Second favorite zone after Grizzly Hills I think.

From what I can tell, the barrow den behind Starfall Village is now infested with bugs. Starfall Village is also now friendly to both horde and alliance. The quest chain you are talking about seems to still be in place though I didn't do the whole chain just checked to see if the chain was still in and it is.

    What....

If memory serves thats a village of Night Elves living the snow, why the hell would they want anything to do with the Horde? If anything Everlook shoud've turned Horde and Starfall should've become the Alliance quest hub.

Go read the feedback of theses zones on the official beta forum. Arathi had become worse than Live server and Dustwallow dont have change a lots...except for the new highway in the middle of the map....thats it.

Dustwallow received major updates to it's quest in the TBC era, I think it was patch 2.3. So the quests there are already updated to Outlands style. I'd imagine the missing diplomat and defias quests have been removed however, and would assume they will be replaced with something. Cataclysm will be the biggest expansion the game has had and probably ever will have, I would'nt be too hard on blizz for leaving a zone relatively untouched that they have already revisited once.

Sounds really reasonable, just like they havn't changed the Blood Elf and the Draenei zones as well.

But I'm looking forward to the Winterspring changes, its time for some Furbolg love!

I have no idea. Most of the NPC's have no affiliation in their tooltip. Also, I have a troll druid and the night elves and dwarves were friendly to me and I could get quests from them. There is a quest in Everlook that tells you to go help the night elves out.

Guess they're gonna pretend they were always Cenarion Circle... : /

I suppose it makes sense in that it adds more quests to the zone with less effort but I always figured that village was supposed to be where the Winterspring Sabers hailed from, with it going neutral that guy standing up on a rock without an ally for miles will look even more odd.

At least he's a million miles from anything at the far end of the zone, not right next to the road at the entrance of the zone where every noob 58 Alliance DK can easily come kill him over and over for hours.
When asked about the role of women in video games, Samus Aran said, "..." - and then she blew up the planet. AGAIN.

While that is true, the main problem right now I have with Dustwallow is that it no longer flows well in Kalimdor. We go from Southern barrens which is pretty much all out war between the horde and the alliance to helping the alliance figure out who burned the inn.

I did not quest here but I did move a bit around for archeology. (zone not done yet) A couple of things I noticed:

The blue dragons are gone from at least outside the cave (did not go inside), however they have been replaced with a lot of what would normally look like pets (rabbits, foxes) but which have serious HP and a blueish aura around them. The chimeras also looked to be gone and been replaced with stone elementals around the southern area of the road. The northern side of the road had some iced trents (blue with frost on them) which I think were neutral.

Agree'd. You go from battling it out in Southern Barrens to collecting turtle meat for the Theramore cook. That transition just gives you a sense of uselessness.

This makes sense. That cave was originally for the epic armor quests that started in Andorhal (given by chromie if I remember correctly). The chain wouldn't make sense in todays world.

Those zones are set at a decent standard for starting zones. They don't need changes.

I would probably say 2/3 of the zones have had major graphical and questing experience overhauls.

The rest of the zones have had additional quest hubs added to make questing flow better, they also have tunnels leading through the mountain to the next zone. For example Arathi Highlands has a tunnel leading to Hinterlands so you don't need to venture to Hillsbrad anymore. Also most quests in the relatively unchanged zones has simply had quest text re-written although the quest objectives stay the same.

It will be interesting to see in the next couple of beta builds to see what changes have been made to Silithus and Winterspring, if they are anything like the zones on the way to level 56+ then it will be an awesome expansion. I personally have enjoyed the old zone revamps far more than the new zones for the 80-85 bracket not because of nostalgia but because each zone has a story and has unique hands on quests rather than all the kill and collect quests we were so used to in vanilla.
