Do you guys think Blizzard will ever merge all the realms?

When WoW came out in 2004 they didn't really have the equipment for this but now technology is that much faster and they are several billion dollars richer.

Think about it. No more skewed Alliance to Horde ratios, no more waiting for groups, no more grouping with cross-server people who think they can act like assholes because they'll never see you again.

And no more being bored due to nobody else being on if you play late!

    Nope.

    Would love it tho .

But if you can do calculations on how they will earn / save money from doing so... Then yes.

200 servers of skewed alliance-horde ratios merging into one super server equals an epicly skewed alliance-horde ratio.

They can't keep servers fully stable and lag free as it is. What makes you think they have the capacity to join all the realms together?

ahh and Trade chat so flooded it couldn't even be possibly considered useful anymore... Doubtful anyone would stop being assholes, if anything they'd probably be more of assholes because what, 10 people ignore them? well there's still 100,000 more where they came from.

They might do so in a far future where the amount of subscriptions are beginning to go down. Otherwise no.

Well at the very least they could cut down on the number of GMs because they will only have to watch one chat stream and one realm?

It's not technically possible. End Of Story.

Merging a couple of low pop servers wouldn't be a bad idea. It kind of sucks when you're on a server with one (1) decent PvE-guild.

    No.

Don't know how i else to put it without typing a wall of text to show you this is a retarded idea.

Dude there will be the same amount of people playing so they will need the same if not more GM's , do you really think there are GM's who just sit there and watch trade chat? you have a extremely distorted view of how WoW works.
Article 37 : A Bro is under no obligation to open a door for anyone. If a women insist on having their own professional basketball league, then they can open their own doors. Honestly, they're not that heavy.
Article 49 : When asked,"Do you need some help?" a Bro shall automatically respond, "i got it," whether or not he's actually got it.

Is this a joke or what ?

U remember how lagy servers can be sometimes ?
Now imagine if 20 000 people played on that same server
Now imagine if 100 000 people played on that same server
And now imagine if 1 milion people played on same server

U will wait in queue to log in for over a month and when u log in u will suffer so much lag u will have consant wish to hang yourself

Think they already have less workers than they actually could need.

Would be fucking awesome in the future to increase the size of everything :P Have IF as an actual big city where 5 milion players can be in...

But where in the hell can we find technology for that yet? For a normal person that is.

That's because only a fraction of their servers power each realm, though. If all the servers were joined to run a single realm, wouldn't that realm be super fast?

Even MMO's with 1/10th the population of WoW can't have one single stable server. The only way this would be possible would be if you implemented a system like EVE or Guild Wars, where each zone is a different server in itself - great for those games, but would not work for WoW.

the lag and overpopulation in cities would be of epic proportions.

The netcode and hardware needed to do something like this is at least 8-10 years away =)
