    Hi,
Being banned is standard policy by Blizz after an account has been compromised. It is done to protect you! You may need to contact Blizz from the main blizzard web site with scanned coppies of some ID (eg driving licence etc) to prove you are not the hacker. Once this is done you will get you're account back. When you log in you will see that most likely all your characters will have had everything sellable sold. Dont panic, contact a GM and within 24hrs you will have all your items back.
This has happened to me before and I know what a panic situation it is but if you follow the correct procedures then all will be back to normal in about a day.
People will tell you that you must have a keylogger etc and to install this and that etc etc etc and that may be the case, however I had nothing on my pc and I have all the relevent sofware installed. I have no idea how anyone could have hacked me and am making no accusations about people "helping" you decide to by an authenticator but tbh if you dont have one.. get one!

    Hope this helps

Okay, so. I was playin' wow, just casually chatting in dalaran. Suddenly, I start to lag. ^.~ Nothing special, I thought, since my pc is a bit old and dalaran...well, you know. Anyhow, rebooted and went for a smoke while it loaded. I came back, started wow, inserted my password... and boom, wrong password. I tried it several times, no luck. Went to account management, changed email and password and sighed out of pure relief. I logged in, and suddenly, there I was, falling through the world on my mage. Logged out and back in, suddenly I'm near the immune mob in shadowmoon valley, near the entrance to black temple. (can't be arsed to find his name right now, semi-pissed about my ban)All my gear is red, and my money is gone. I have an open GM ticket which says: "I'm a botter, want to buy some gold?" and then a series of discount codes and prices, website adresses, etc. Closed the ticket, logged out. Went to change my password again, and a really random one this time, had to write it down so I'd remember it. logged back in, guild all concerned wtf is happening, and loads of whispers from friends. Opened a ticket, saying that I was hacked, and requested help so I could find out what he had done. Went to check all my gear and items while waiting for a response. All there, nothing has been touched. I log back on my mage, a gm ticket pops up. I was surprised, they never answer me faster than at least 4 hours of waiting, but even though I didn't think about it, I was relieved, for once they actually helped me when I needed help. I start writing my story to the chatbox, and DC in middle. I suddenly think, wtf, it's the hacker again. tried logging in, boom. I was banned. And not suspended, BANNED. That came out of nowhere, and since I had nothing to do with it, i contacted blizzard asap. Email response, and let me quote.

Sorry for the wall of text, you can probably imagine how I feel right now, the account had all classes at 80, and decently geared aswell. I go to the army, so I really don't have anything to do on weekends, (cept drink) and playin' wow doesn't waste so much money, so..

Any advice? Tried contacting blizzard by email numerous times, but this crap is all i get. I've never been banned/suspended before, so I don't know how to react.. Tried calling their support, but apparently they can't help either.

Ps. Sorry if this is in the wrong section, probably should've posted in offtopic, but.. oh well. Just move it if you see it's necessary.

Perhaps he banned you to stop hackers from logging in, perhaps assuming you would contact support and then get the account back later on.

And yea, in the end you should get your account back. Calling them is the best way, so easy to communicate.

Being banned while your account is flagged as possibly hacked is a step taken to protect your account, so GM's do not have to do quite a smuch work to restore it to its original state. A little common sense would have led to that conclusion. also, you were not 'hacked' as that entails someone was actually working against your security methods in real time. You were keylogged.

Hopefully the retrieval process will not take long, and you will come to purchase an authenticator.

Similar thing happened to me when I got keylogged a couple years back. I lost my account about 2 weeks after WOTLK released. I had to wait a weekend to get my account back, as they don't work weekends. But I got it. I did a scan of my comp, and found a couple of cookies and such, nothing that looked really malicious(this was using Norton). I log back in and did fine for a couple of days, even got all my gear/items/gold back. Then I get hacked again. I was able to change the password and log back in. I opened a ticket to try to get my items back, quick reply, and in the middle of the conversation, i get kicked from the game and banned. I was able to get back in the next day and all my stuff back a day later. I ran an anti-spyware program and found the trojan file that was causing all this crap.
TL;DR: A GM will kick you and ban you if you tell him you had just been hacked and had not filed any paperwork/forms with blizzard. They will just assume you are the hacker trying to get more gear and gold. Funny side note, they transfered one of my toons to another server, this was during the period where they were giving out free realm transfers to free up the high pop realms. I log into that character, and they are in a guild, and the guild MOTD was "Bail". I guess even the hackers want to be in a guild.
But there's not a single buff in there that will make Puggy McGee do any less than UberGuildMaster Joe.

Tickets are the most inneffective way of dealing with anything, especially being hacked. Ring them asap.

Stop watching pr0n and call blizzard/open a ticket in-game, i got hax'd and banned once, i just opened a ticket from a friends account and got my account back the same day, i also kept the hax0rs gold, a shit load of titanium ore, and boe epics...Being hacked ain't so bad ^^

to lazy to read all the answers so this might have been said.

i think this is the normal way blizzard handles hacked account.
they ban the account for account sharing and puts it under investigation.
it will prolly be resolved within a few days.
    it sucks though.

Just fill in their webform, and explain everything. Chances that they actually do something is way higher than on GM tickets and regular mails. (I got to transfer a character to a different account cause I got hacked and couldnt get the account back)

    Step 1: Get an authenticator.

Step 2: Hit yourself repeatedly in the face for not having one in the first place.

Step 3: Calm down, they locked your account to prevent the hackers from getting back in it.

Step 4: Find another computer to access the net with.

Step 5: From this new computer, change the password on your Email account. Better yet, change the email account associated with your Battle.net ID. Chances are, whoever jacked your account the first time around jacked not only your WoW password, but your email account password as well, which is how they are able to get into your account again after you changed the password the first time.

Step 6: Clean your PC with every virus scanner and spyware detector you can get your hands on.

    Step 7: Remember that authenticator?

Same thing happened to me m8, told my bro to open a ticket n he spoke to em. Im guessing they just banned u so that the hacker cant have access to ur acc while ur clearing ur comp from virus / trojan / whatever. Thats at least what they did to me, when i had scanned my system and was pretty sure i didnt have any viruses left i just called em and they made my account accessable again

But yeah, just call em and tell them what happened and im pretty sure they will remove the ban, however, dont do this untill ur sure the virus is gone or it might happen again

The out of sync thing was pretty early on, they released an update for the mobile authenticator and it screwed with a lot of peoples details. I went through a stage of buying authenticators for guildies etc and anyone I was visiting who played wow (and getting the cash back in favours etc) at the end of the day it can cause issues not just to you but to everyone who plays with you (especially if you're a relatively important role in your guilds raids etc) save the hassle and get some form of authenticator ASAP.

If you can login then do so and open up a ticket.
If you can't, and can't reset your password, then use the webform and send the following info:

A decent, proper photo of your passport/drivers license/ID proving that the sender is the owner of the account and not Pingchow trying to claim ownership
    Your origional WoW CD key
    Your secret question + answer
    A recent gamecard code
The 'real name'/address assosiated with the account

Send in as much info as you can via the webform here (US version) with the Catagory as Account Security/ Compromised/ Hacked.

The hackers normally get your password when you get a keylogger virus, which records everything you type and sends it to them. If you still have this virus, they will just hack you again when they get your new password. So it's important you do a virus scan on any comps you log in with.
If you don't already have an anti-virus program, you can use a free one such as AVG. Once you kill the virus - THEN you can get a new password and change your email password too, and be safe.
I also recommend you consider getting an Authenticator. This will give your account the maximum possible security, and they are very cheap. Authenticators only cost roughly €5 from their online store, and are free if you have a new phone model which can download the authenticator application.

Run mac or a modded version of linux, that's the way you'll likely never be hacked again.

Err.. smells like an issue with someone you know IRL, that you gave your info. I have never heard of this before, change your email password and the one to your bnet account, then call customer service in the morning.

    4. Change every single password you have used while your PC was infected.
    5. Call Blizz and ask them to give you your account back (make sure you make a new e-mail account specifically for WoW and important stuff and ask them to attach your battle.net to that new e-mail.)
    6. Install AdBlock and NoScript (or their equivalents) plugins to your web browser.
    7. Scan your PC regularly with both of the programs used in point 2.

Fixed all of the problems for me, and I was being hacked very often, even after what I thought was being cautious.
