    Saving Justice Points

Now that we know the seemingly official, and much higher, conversion rate, is it now a good idea to go ahead and stockpile enough badges to reach the soft cap?

I did some quick math, and at 11.58 points per frost/triumph, we only need 346 badges to reach 4000 Justice Points.

I have liberally spent my badges in the past, but for the past two weeks have been casually saving my triumph badges and I'm now at ~150. So I'm guessing I may as well save an additional 196. Wouldn't be a bad idea if I can blow it on 2 peices of blue gear before hitting 85.

    Any thoughts?

Since Wrath gear will be useless when Cataclysm launches, I don't see a reason not to save the badges for later - In fact I'm doing the same thing.

Well there are really only two legitimate arguments here:

1.) Spend badges to make money (Primordials, Gems, or downgrade for the badge --> gold transformation)
2.) Save badges to reach the soft cap.

The latter is more risky since we have no idea whether we can pre-purchase 85 gear once Cata hits. If we can't for some reason, we may find ourselves helplessly at the cap, gaining points that mean nothing.

Yet, I am willing to bet that it will take you *significantly* more time getting that many badges in relation to getting them when Cata comes out. Consider, 4k is enough for only 1 piece of gear and it will take a hell of a lot of work to get that many.

There is another point. If you aren't already, it is still valuable to gear your 80 with those points. This will allow you to level / progress more efficiently in cata, which will get you to a point where you can start farming for justice points sooner then you would otherwise.

Invest now, or invest later. IMO, invest now.

Q: Ok, so like, can't I just be completely awesome now with all this moneys?
Yes this does mean tier 10 is easier to get right before the expansion comes out. Enjoy them, you'll be replacing them as you level. And you can certainly stockpile your 4000 points and use them to buy a heroic level item or two at level 85! WOOOO!
Granted it's probably such that each piece will cost like 2000-3000 (which probably means we will be getting a significant amount of points per boss kill at 85), but still

Read the offical post, while it doesn't say "You'll have your points at 85." They inforce the hard cap of 4000 points once Cata launches, which implies they don't reset your points, just cap them.

    EDIT: Beaten to it :P

Of course you can buy 85 gear for Justice Points.
Look up the news post a few days ago, you can buy 85 blues, which cost more than 1000 JP.
So with 4000 JP, you are looking at a whooping 4 pieces maximum of 85 blues, equivalent to Non-heroic-dungeon-rewards.

Not as game-breaking as everybody says.

Boub already showed on the front page you can buy blue 85 gear with Justice points, and seeing as how badges are converting into justice points, you can buy 85 gear with it.

Make money off frost badges, save triumph badges; if you have the ~380 triumph badges already, use spill over to make even more money.

If you read the original post they put up about justice points I believe it said there will first be a soft cap for 4.0, and then a hard cap for when Cataclysm is released. It's very likely when the hard cap is introduced they'll reset all points similar to what they do for honor.

    And here it is...
While we previously announced that there's a limit to the amount of these new currencies you can stockpile, we're providing a grace period in the form of a soft cap. This soft cap will allow the initial conversion to push the amount owned over the cap, but will not allow any further points to be earned (or returned through item refunds) until enough points are spent to put you below the hard cap.

For instance, a player has 3000 Emblems of Triumph, and 1200 Emblems of Frost; at the time of conversion they'll be given 4200 Justice Points. The hard cap for Justice Points is 4000, so that player won't be able to earn any more Justice Points until he or she spends enough points to reduce the total to under 4000. This also applies to the new PvP Honor Points, which also have a cap of 4000.

Shortly before Cataclysm is released, another patch will enforce the hard cap, marking the second stage of the currency conversion. Any Justice or Honor Points above the hard cap will be converted to gold, and just like in the first stage of the conversion, the player will receive an in-game letter explaining that some of their currencies were converted into gold as well as delivering the gold itself.

When have they ever reset honor?

After looking it up it seems that's correct, I could have sworn BC seasons had honor reset every season but apparently it was just for the first season so you couldn't save up honor at 60 for level 70 gear.

The likely case will be a low hard cap for justice points to prevent buying of more than one item, if that. Now that I think of it though, they probably won't reset points because they're designed to be obtained at any level, not just 85, so you can obtain them while leveling at 70 or 80 for instance.

There is a blue post linked a few posts above. The hardcap for justice points is 4000. You can get to that 4000 now and buy a couple of level 85 blues once you hit 85.

    My recommendation is:

    - Stop spending triumph emblems, you'll be able to buy frost gear with them in 4.0
    - Keep spending frost emblems, get the gear you want now while its relevant, 4000 wont be much of a head start at 85, wheras T10 will be very useful for the first couple of levels.
    - If you don't need any emblem loot, stop buying gems and primordials until you reach the magic 346. Unless you're very short on gold.
Out of curiosity, where are you getting 346? What's the significance?

You need 346 emblems of frost/triumph to reach the justice point cap.

    346 emblems * 11.58 conversion ~ 4000 justice points

    346 * new badge conversion = softcap

Well that's some pretty neat info. Thanks to everyone that clarified things up, I didn't know that there was a point in saving the badges. Now I do, and I'm gonna farm me some (346 to be exact) Triumph Badges!

I wouldn't go too crazy with trying to hit 346 before the patch hits. Last I checked on the PTR heroic instance bosses were giving I think... 16 justice points per kill. So you can still get points after the patch. However the daily heroic quest no longer gave any badges.

New conversion? When did they change it? Last I heard it was 2.7 points per badge
