    Ret PVP in Casterclysm

Is anyone planning on doing it competitively? I was really excited for rated BGs, but if ret goes live as is, I'll either be not pvping at all, or going holy. Holy is unbelievably OP and ret is just...disappointing.

I'm going holy, from what I can tell it will have a place on a team whereas ret may not.

I was planning for going ret for pvp in cataclysm, Blizzard doesn't just let specs wither and die anymore.

OT: Casterclysm? I liked calling it Casualclysm, though I suppose that doesn't fit now with the new heroics.

I really wish I felt the same way, but the fact that THIS ret is the ret that has been given to us after 6 years shows there is some kind of huge disconnect between the people that play ret and the devs

I'm not sure that's english but that's cool.

I have no idea what the fuck that means. Seriously, that is some of the most confusing shit I have ever read.

Anyways, I don't think they're going to let ret die out, even if it's grim for a season or two. There's just too many of us that play the spec. I dunno, maybe it'll be great in the 2nd or 3rd major cataclysm patch? Until then though, I'm still going holy.

I'll be ret/holy, probably go ret in pve and pvp depending on if our BG team needs a healer, if they do i'll pvp as holy.

Ill be ret in pve for shits and giggles but MS holy, from i learned this arena season its easier just to pve as a holy and pvp as holy if you want to be "better" (not skill wise just rank wise)
A day without sunshine is like, you know, night.

I'll go ret pvp/e and tank as my mainspeccs, I'll NOT let Ret down tbh, we can't be totaly useles, I'll find a way to play it^^
    Well met!

I'll probably end up going Ret/Prot for PvE (depending on what I feel like mostly) and Holy for PvP. Ret's PvP viability is just not good enough for the PvP forefront.
Too many classes, too little time. Completionist yet lazy.

I totally agree, Should I stop playing ret because its weak? No, thats nothing new. Holy is for cowards! :-D Healing warriors ass is not funny.

I've traditionally stuck to Ret or Prot, not because Holy is somehow detestable or anything, but because it's been forking boring since the game was released.

Now, Holy has some sunshine and rainbows built in, it actually feels right for me, and with Ret doing the complete opposite, and losing all of the flashy lights and explosions that made it feel good to play, plus the painfully obvious lack of passion that went into its developement, I don't think it'll be much of a stretch that I'll be Holy-ing at least half the time. The other half I'll be Prot, because it's stomping around PvP like godzilla right now.

After a few hours of doing a little of ret and holy on the ptr, if pvp is any like that during cata.....yeah ummm not going ret cause casters will legit smoke you in a few secounds with their insane burst (i got one shotted on the ptr by a lock, conflag for 33k...).

Holy on the other had is fun as hell.

    lmao.
if thats true it might be worth a try, casterclysm bgs right now are insanely imbalanced in their favor it seems

I will try Retribution out and see how good it is in a team setting, but I am extremely sceptical. Also, I know that I have Holy to go to if it is a failure and since I have been playing a healer for ages, now, it doesn't hurt me too much. In fact, Holy will be the most fun spec for me, probably, with all the changes done to it.

Palying ret in pvp will be worthless.

Holy deals good dmg and heals very good. also you heal yourself all the time.

Ret needs around 10 sec to get 3 HP then you can activate Zealotry and Avenging Wrath. then you can use 1 CS and get another 3 HP to get inquisition.
2 sec later these spells are stolen or purged from you and you are back to your normal dmg with 3 lost HP.

10 sec and you did nothing but wasting HP to activate your important burst spells only that they do nothing (for that i skill 31 points in a tree to get an ability that is useless in pvp agains 3 out of 10 classes).

Exorcism deals too much dmg while Judgement doesnt deal enough.
The glyphe for 10% more Judgement dmg is worthless. the 20% extra Exorcism dmg over 6 sec is 10 times better (and it really is 10 times).

CS still not applies Stacks of your Seal to get faster 5 stacks for pvp and TV is useless with only 2 HP compared to the 3 HP.

Holy kills in PVP with Exorcism. they can spam it and you are dead in the 6 sec stun (on 80). a 4-6 sec CD would be nice to stop that abuse. On 85 it still deals a very very high dmg for a holy pala. proc HS + HS + inst Exo + Exo are really a badass burst.

Rets need some ability to start a fight with 1 HP or to build it up much faster without having proc luck from DP (worst talent design ever).

Also Sanctity of Battle is still bugged. It gots its CD lowered for Spell Haste only and not for Melee Haste.

Also our Mastery is still so bad. It procs so inconsistent.
Sometimes it comes 2 times in only 10 sec and then it doesnt proc for around 2 mins.
Then if it procs we will deal insane burst, if it doesnt make only good dmg.

I'll probably go Holy, Ret will be pretty much unplayable for a couple of months at least.
Damage is shit, mobility is non existant, group synergy is non existant, I don't see why anybody would bring a Ret no matter if it's for Arena or rated BGs.

I barely play holy in pvp or pve, been messing around with holy on the ptr and i love it.

So basically pve for ret, pvp for holy :P

I'll stay ret in both aspects of the game. Being able to mix gear pieces from pve and pvp is one reason, the whole crusader feeling and the fact that I didn't enjoy holy in pvp all that much are the others.

Maybe being the underdog for a season or two ist exactly what ret needs, getting rid of some of the b11 fotm pally population. Those players are gonna stick to their elemental shamans or roll worgen rogues instead, I guess :P

And yeah, we already _are_ underdogs in arena right now, but we do damn fine in battlegrounds, still.
