Boss mechanics you would like to see again

What boss mechanics would you like to see again, in one form or another, in the Cataclysm raids? Obviously the mechanics shouldn't be carbon copies of the originals, but at least something similar to them. So, what mechanics would you like to see again, and why?

Kara Chess encounter: While this was pretty much a free loot encounter, it was still a fun and refreshing change of pace from the rest of the raid.

Heigan Safety Dance: This was fun for the most part since it required your raid to focus more on movement than on pure DPS. The only downside was that people with slow computers or alot of lag had a hard time surviving.

Voljasz's Hallucinations: While not a raid boss, he still had a very cool mechanic. Having to defeat evil hallucinations of your party members was cool and original.

Gruul's growths: This was a DPS race not because he would enrage or overwhelm you with adds, but because he would eventually become so strong that he would simply obliterate your tanks.

Lana'thel's bites: You become a vampire and do tons of damage while generating no aggro, but you have to bite someone else before you become MC'd. On paper it's a relatively simple mechanic. In practice, you'd be amazed by how many people fuck this up.

Occulus drakes - Most people hated Occulus, but I loved it. The drakes were very cool and allowed you to perform a role you don't ordinarily perform in a group. A Cataclysm version of this could have players becoming empowered with one of the four elements, gaining unique abilities with each element.

There are probably more I'd like to see, but these are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.

C'Thun Eye Laser- Very simple retard check ^_^
Last boss in HFOS Health link- I love to abuse it and kill the people that annoyed me that run

Hated: Ragnaros's super knock back. The fall damage always nearly kills you

    the 3-bodyparts-battle with Kologarn.
I always loved bosses in games like Final fantasy that had multiple bodyparts that did different things, so much fun experimenting with different tactics there.
for example, make a gigant where you can either attack the feet to slow him (in order to ease out certain other mechanics like a death charge Icehowl style), attack the left arm that has a shield to weaken his defense or attack his right arm to reduce his damage.

Edit: Moroes and Maiden of Virtue were also nice encounters that i´d like to see again (but then again, almost all Kara encounters were awesome)

Can I say LK at 20%? I'm sure nothing else would make an end game raider shit their pants harder and faster than going into an impossible fight, just barely scratching by, only to be killed instantly.

More On-topic: Grobbulus was perhaps the most fun I've had in any raiding experience (then again, I love Naxx). I'd love to see an encounter like this again.
Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and for thy possession, the ends of the earth. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron. Thou shalt dash them in pieces, like a potter's vessel. Be wise now therefore ye kings. Be admonished ye judges of the earth. Serve the lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the son lest he be angry, and ye perish in the way, though his wrath be kindled but a little.

Blood Queen Lana'Thel's Vampire Crap was quite fun. also that a few players have to use a kind of vehicle (like Putri where the off tank is an mini-festergut). oh, and cool be cool with some where you can fly. a little like Malygos where you got those funny flying dishes.

    Mechanics like:

Hex-lord Malacrass - Taking on a players abilities. The random aspect of it always kept you alert.
Tiger Boss, ZG - Interrupting required
Thaddius-25 - I say 25 specifically because early on it was required thinking and all out dps. 10 was straightforward
Netherspite - beam blocking (back again in Blackrock Caverns I believe)
Maulgar - So many things going on, chaotic, alot of fun.

Oo!! I really enjoyed the Gluth encounter in Nax. Mostly because I was a mage at the time and I was tasked with kiting the adds around, and it was extremely fun!

I guess with that being said I really enjoy the fights where you have to actually move and pay attention. IE: Putricide, Four Horsemen, Rotface, Lichking, etc.

    putricide and mimiron!
    could do without sindragosa-like encounters

    The falling orbs in princes.

They taught raiders to pay attention to the environtment while also trying to maximize their dps. (And to target switch)

One thing i'd love to see and which we most likely WILL see is the "you have to jump/be in air" mechanic from Stonecore.

Firefighter was cool just because of how many nub checks there were at once. Maybe Putricide without the buff before we were full 264s just because everyone actually had to switch to adds and worry less about personal dps for charts.
Any other cool mechanics I can think of would just be sad if they carried it over to another boss. KJ and Kologarn were really cool and interesting but I think I'd be bummed if I saw Blizz reuse those.

Gruul's shatter, and pretty much most mechanics from Ulduar.

Kiting stars into black holes at Algalon. Loved it <3 Though keeping 3 groups alive and kiting at the same time was pretty challenging.

One mechanic I want to see used, but in a different way, is the full X-Y-Z axis freedom to a boss fight. Like the Gravity Lapse in Kael's fights.. But maybe an under water boss where we're swimming.
... Archimonde's super unforgiving death skills. This comes cause the theme of Wrath is "Deaths are ok."... WTB more boss fights where a death CAN wipe the raid. But not too many!
The Nef class calls, as stated above. Hopefully he'll do it again in BWD!
And oddly, the orbs from Loot Reaver. Post-target-nerf too.
A good shared HP boss fight. Like Twin Emps, not Twin Valks.

Remember on Thorim, where the group had to split up. Some stayed in the arena, some in the hall? Something like that, but with each person splitting up, and being personally responsible for a job. This isn't necessarily a boss mechanic we've seen before, but I can recall wiping in Thorim when learning the encounter because the arena guys didn't know to tank the champ outside of the circle and he raped them all.

I pictured this encounter where.. there were five tunnels, and each group member had to split up. Down the tank tunnel, a tank would have to hold a mob. DPS would have to kill mobs, and a healer would have to heal something. Add a few mechanics to make it not easy. If someone fails, then something can trigger and cause a wipe. If they succeed, they drop back into the main room and fight a boss. Maybe even.. the more failures, the harder the boss is. Like, they could be in a giant machine that builds armor or something for a golem or giant. Each person has to screw up their part of the machine, so that when they come out.. said golem or giant won't be ready to stomp a mudhole in their asses.

I've been up all night heh!
There were around 7,000 Greeks in total at the Battle of Thermopylae.
Not just the Spartans and a few inept imbeciles to play clean up.

A few I can think of off the top of my head

    From Wrath:

Blood Queen had some fun mechanics and I like to watch the big numbers fly there. I also like Gunship in ICC...it is ridiculously easy, but I still think the mechanics where you have the rocket packs/cannons are fun/cool, and the fight is just fun overall.

Dreamwalker. I like how your objective is to defend/heal her up instead of kill her. Also it's one fight where the healers can show off meters and flex their epeens just like DPSers usually do.

Sarth 3 Drakes when it was still decently hard before everyone outgeared it and started zerging it. There was a lot going on, fun fight overall in my opinion.
Thaddius. I never tanked it but I always thought the tank throw his two adds before the fight did was awesome. Also the big numbers were fun to see when people with the same charges were stacked.

Most of the Ulduar bosses. More specifically I thought the Mimiron fight was fun/cool. I like how you fight all the different parts in 3 phases, then everything merges together and you have to deal with all the abilities at once. Also required DPS to pay more attention at the end since the parts all have to die close to the same time.

    From BC:

I liked most of Black Temple but some of my favorites-
Gorefiend. It was generally easy (I play a melee DPS class), but I thought the mechanic with shadowy constructs/ghosts was cool.
Illidari Council. Lots of coordination required and a lot going on where you had to switch back and forth between physical interrupts/caster interrupts on the one boss and it was just a fun fight in general.

Kael in TK. Picking up and using the temporary legendary weapons and flying through the air was fun.

Brutallus in Sunwell before the nerf. The mechanics weren't really that impressive, but I like how it pushed DPS to the limit.

I just had a big brain fart and can't remember the boss's name, but that one boss in ZA that put the fire bombs all around the ground and had all the adds to be AoE'd down was kinda fun.

I missed out on most of the classic WoW raid bosses. I was playing back then, but my schedule at the time didn't really allow for me to commit to raiding certain nights any week, so I missed out on most of them. I've gone back and run them since 80, but you can't comment much on mechanics/fun stuff at that point because your strat is generally to just zerg stuff down. I could see Twin Emps in AQ40 being pretty hard back in the day when people were doing it at 60.

Flame Leviathan and Malygos. 1) I love vehicle fights, they tend to change the common raid into something more fun and 2) I love tanks.

Apart from that, definitely some of the Kael'thas TK encounter thingies, Maulgar was fun too. From wotlk I dont think there was a fight I enjoyed that much. Could also be up for killing something similiar to Freya and Mimiron. Also Hodir, cause you had to interact with the surroundings perfectly but as a reward your dps would skyrocket up!

    Magtheridan's cubes were fun.
I also like council-type bosses (multiple, share health pool)
PvPvE events like ToC and magisters' Terrance
Jin'do the hexer's shadows were a cool part of ZG for me.
