    4.0.1 solo'ing with Frost

So now that we got a pet that we can, I tried to tackle a few things to see how well we can solo old content.

    spec

Note that this is my PvP spec. For a fulltime solo spec, I would probably switch around some talents, but this seems to work nice for now.

The idea is to pop MI with the pet out and nuke as hard as possible. After 30 seconds, pop invis so that the elemental keeps tanking.

    Things I solo'ed:

    Thekal in ZG
    Bloodlord Mandorik in ZG
HC: Underbog, Steamvaults, Slave Pens, Sethek halls (including Anzu) and Black moras

The biggest issue is that the water elemental has a mediocre agro generation so it won't take long after invis to retake agro. The problem here is that you pretty much need to do enough damage or he'll simply die but frost armour, increased base armour and stamina seems to help a lot. This is only an issue in raids as bosses in TBC heroics get blown up before MI runs out.

Are there any other people who have tried to tackle old content as frost?

I'm planning to attempt Garr and Baron Gedon in MC tonight to see how well it goes on harder content.

I also plan to try MC a bit this weekend.

So far I've only done Tiger and Raptor bosses. For the raptor boss I was arcane. With Mirror Images having tons more health, it was super easy to burn the boss down with all cooldowns using only AB spam. Shortly after the boss died, my images ran out (or died), then I invis'ed to get rid of the raptor.
For tiger boss I was fire. I'm sure Arcane would've worked just as well, but at the time Living Bomb sounded like it would make the fight pretty easy. My Mirrors ran out shortly after Thekal transformed; scorch-while-moving made him pretty easy.

I used to solo both a while back but they each required different specs to guarantee I kill them. This patch makes them a joke now.

Any reason why you picked Frostfire Orb in your spec, instead of dropping those points into Enduring Winter, Ice Shards or Master of Elements?

Soloed 7 bosses of Karazhan on PTR, and now on live:
Attumen, Moroes, Maiden of Virtue, Big Bad Wolf, Curator, Shade of Aran and Illhoof, but I forgot to record some of them:

I'll record the others now on live.

Indeed the new frost is great soling, I did Every boss In zg Except for Edge of madness since im not alchemist. Most of the fights where just blow cooldowns and burn the boss.

The only Ones that where remotely challanging where

Bloodlord- I could have done the good old fashioned kiting method, But i managed to kill him by juggling Aggro Between myself and my pet.

    Thekal-I still used the glitch

Undead troll guy- This was by far the hardest, The new permafrost talent Barely Managed to keep my pet alive through the mind control.

Hakkar- Was The same as the undead troll guy Except eaiser.

Soloed Mandokir as arcane, popped images and burned down easly enough, same with tiger boss, current in progress of clearing karazhan, I found myself having 3 wipes on opera event because I got the crone and I wiped 1 time on curator because he is immune against arcane spells apparently

@Zalberd - what glitch would that be?

Also on Thekal even with WE/MI out I still get the silence which is basically a wall since they removed Burning Det.

also as frost how do you guys proceed with killing the adds? do you just nuke the boss then the adds or? i usually either get a silence which screws up the equal burst or MI/WE lose aggro(WEIRD) and i get trained with gauge/silence -_-

ok managed to get to prince in karazhan, anyone got a handy way of dealing with his high melee, sw and enfeeble? I managed to get him down to 150k but then I avoided enfeeble+the dot somehow, but once my images are gone he and his weapons owns me. And one more thing, if you go frost, is it possible to get your WE to soak a beam on netherspite?

I would link the youtube video but i'm rather new here So just search "Tiger boss glitch".
Skip to about 2:20 for the actual boss glitch.

It works for any class, And Makes him skip right to the last phase.

PvP spec with increased snare on FFB and not a pure solo spec.

As soon as I pop mirrors on Mandokir, half the room adds, no matter where I am (on the "throne", in a cleared corner). Did you clear the entire "room" before? This would suck, no other char has to do this.

It's possible to take all the beams in the Netherspite encounter but that means you'll have to burn him before second phase which should be easy enough.

I cleared the whole room. It's slightly annoying with all the knockbacks but doable

I did not, I only killed the guy before, fired of 4x ab then pom ab and blew all my other cds and the guy went down pretty fast (I made a macro which uses mana gem, images and arcane power) you can also use speed pot if you want.

All of ZG is ridiculously easy to solo now. Hakkar was the only one being a douche but it was because I was an idiot and didn't think it through. He MC'd me a number of times at around 100-200k hp, and on my first pull I was able to quickly ice block it and he didn't leash. Problem there was I skipped Mar'li so he stunfagged me and I gave up and invis'd to kill the asshole. I may have actually been able to kill him there depending on how often he actually stunned. My kill pull was actually me just testing when he would MC me so I could pop mirrors right before it, but my stopwatch went to about 50 seconds and no MC... so I blew mirrors and he died. 4.0 is silly. I was my raid arcane spec with some switched up glyphs, fyi. Everything else was a 1 shot, I didn't do fishing boss or madness event. My first time ever soloing ZG and it was super faceroll. TO MOLTEN CORE!

I'm definitely going to have to try the two mount bosses in ZG before it goes. Anzu is also on the menu. They should be doable in any of the three specs, but maybe slightly easier going frost over fire?
    For the Alliance!

Anzu is mean as he puts outs a lot of damage.

    What I did:

Put on ice barrier and mana shield.

Let the pet pull: wait for a bit until the pets HP is getting low. Pop freeze, fire of a DF and an ice lance and nuke anzu down to 66%.

Kill the adds. Nova and Imp CoC help a lot. Pop invis as soon as they down so Anzu goes for the pet again. Pull it of the WE again with an freeze+DF+IL combo and nuke him down to 33%

Kill the adds again, pop MI right before the last bird add dies and burn down Anzu.

Keeping MI for the end and making sure you don't die had the best results for me.

Pull with MI out. Tab target around to make sure that they die around the same time. I only got silenced once. Also use a focus macro to CS the heal. I tanked Thekal in P2 myself, but kited him around a bit.

ndead troll guy- This was by far the hardest, The new permafrost talent Barely Managed to keep my pet alive through the mind control.
It might be easier to just burn him down without a pet. I did it before the patch as frost.
Frost armour (ice back then) and stand near the place where you get ported to. His MC totem does not reset the fight, so you could nuke him down as he hits like a wet noodle. Keep IV for glyphed evocation or cold snap it if you prefer to use one for burst.

It's ways easier as arcane. Pop manashield, und burn him down using all your CDs except mirrors. He should then be at about 40-50% when he becomes immune. He won't hit when he casts, so you should not lose any major health there. You will then be stunned when the birds attack, so you should watch him (focus) and when the cast is almost through go into iceblock (you cannot iceblock once you'Ve been stunned). Kill the birds after the stun, and depending on his hp (closer to 50% pop mirrors, closer to 40% try without) bring him into the next immune phase (don't forget manashield). He should be at 10-15% then (if not: go invis, you won't survive the last phase (unless you use pvp gear or you still have mirrors up)). When the birds are still flying around, pop manashield and evocate for health and mana. AE the mobs - but leave at least on bird alive until he stuns you again (stun when he is attacking you=sure death), and then burn him down. Sounds complicated, but in my opionion it was ways easier than using frost.
