Well even TVtropes can't pinpoint a precise meaning for Mary Sue.
The most commonly accepted meaning for a Mary Sue is a Clichéd and poorly written character that is either made way too important (more important than the actual plot as in), steals the role of a major character (is better than legolas as at archery through just "natural Talent" for example).
An author 'Pet' or a over-idealised Author avatar and is more commonly used.
The trope originates from fanfics (as in non-canon fiction by fans.)
(although the trope Canon Sue has spawned into being as of late - http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CanonSue)
Unfortunately the most commonly used, and completely wrong defintion is ANY character that you personally do not like.

Such as The PLAGUELANDS?
where she has a small story arc already.

Have you ever been to any WoW forum before, that is all people do.
Well 3 main things:
1 Flame wars
2 Argue about fiction
3 Whine incessantly
though you do get the occasional insightful topic, especially speculation on non-stupid topics (every topic by Dark Side and his friends are prime examples of brilliant lore speculation topics.)
And the occasional funny or interesting topic about something of no connection to lore or class changes or WoW changes.
and the occasional lore piss-take topic, such as rhonin diaries and the like.
Man I need to learn how to stop writing Walls of text.

Yeah, she's also in Plaguelands... or more accurately, there are some dead bodies that she may or may not have been responsible for offscreen.
Thanks for the lecture... but my question was sarcastic.
And that's exactly what I'm talking about. People don't like Sylvanas (most likely because she's a badass unstoppable bitch and dresses in black) and they know that "Mary Sue" is used against characters that they aren't supposed to like, ergo, anything that they don't like, they call "Mary Sue". Ignorance.Unfortunately the most commonly used, and completely wrong defintion is ANY character that you personally do not like.
