t10 Balance set bonuses worth it?

just a quick question, got my moonkin to lvl 80. wondering whether to buy 4 piece 251 tier 10 or the 264 random epics?

A quick answer, the 2-piece bonus is a must, 4-piece bonus is good but i'm not sure wether it's worth downgrading from ilvl264

I gues you could get leather 264 parts and after cataclysm launch get T11 set Cataclysm is so close anyway . But the 4 set bonus is good to!

The 4 set bonus easily outweigh's the random off pieces - Quoted from my guild leader (boomkin) when he noticed a huge improvement in DPS as soon as he got his 4 piece. Granted this was a good few months ago, but not an awful lot has changed really

thx for the replies. yeh the 2 set looks like must have with the stock 15% dps boost.

if i were to grab the non-tier chest+gloves instead of going for 4 piece, they basically give 3.05% more haste, 24 Int, 84 spirit and an extra socket over the 251 tier equivalent. and the tier pieces have hit and crit instead. so the question is whether that is better than the 7% extra spell crit damage over 4 secs.

i'm guessing that's like 700 damage over 4 secs if i get a 10k spell crit.

Languish is around 5% extra DPS. Don't think any 2 offspec items are gonna give you 5% DPS increase.

THis is now incorrect. Languish is nowhere near 5% without the added crit buffs to eclipse. It falls off too much now. Its actually under 2% now.

Is it better to still use T10 4 pc now that its gimped pretty hard compared to what it was prior to 4.0 (4pc bonus now <2% dmg done)? How about using non tier pieces purely for stat increase especially for people who can't get their hands on 277 tokens due to other classes etc?

Languish is less of our overall damage, because other sources has been buffed. You are critting less with starfire overall, but when you do, half of them are with a 40% buff.

I just compared Languish on the Putricide kill we just did (2% of overall damage) to one before the patch (4% of overall damage). However, with the extra damage that everybody is doing, the fight was over a minute shorter.

I'd say 4pt10 is still very viable, especially considering your offset items are usually leather items with hit or spirit. You can reforge this, but I think it's a big hassle.

And to be blunt, why are we comparing 251 tier pieces to 264 offset items? If you have access to 264 epics for your head, chest, gloves, legs and shoulders, then you generally have access to tier tokens as well.

if i were you, i wouldnt buy it. we are literally nearing 4 weeks until cataclysm. save your JP and get something in cataclysm instead. something that will be around for a while.

From my experiences with boomkins, the 2-P bonus is so worth it. But overall the 4-P is not worth if you're downgrading.

There's no third piece I would swap, because the rest of the pieces are all haste/crit, and you'd be swapping for spirit(hit)/haste. The only pieces worth swapping are the hit/crit pieces for hit/haste.
