How long before you can race change for the new class combos?

I haven't seen anything in the news, and searching will probably turn up way too many threads...

I'm wanting to faction xfer my shaman to alliance, but I'm wanting to be a dwarf instead of a draenei. Or possibly a worgen. I'm not wanting to pay $50 if I can just wait and do it for $25 once Cata goes live. Anyone seen anything on it?

I wouldn't be at all surprised if you can switch to old race/new class combos at 4.0.3, at least that's what I'm hoping. WTB dwarf mage.

The Realm First! achievements aren't that specific. They are divided up into two separate achievements:
Realm First! Level 85 Blood Elf
    Realm First! Level 85 Warrior

The upshot is that every Blood Elf and every Warrior has the same chance to get the realm first. Likewise, the achievements for Realm First Worgen and Goblin (the only race-based achievements currently in the beta, btw) have a stipulation that you have to finish the noob chain, which is wholly inaccessible to anybody who isn't a fresh level 1 Worgen or Goblin.

The cynical answer is that there's simply too much money to be made from the various transfers that will inevitably happen to limit it in any way.

its a meta achievement for realm first worgen/goblin. You have to finish the starting quests in the starting zones, then reach 85. So in the interest of making alot of money, i'd say Dec. 7th

I reallllllllllllly hope so. I don't care about the acheesements; I simply want to be able to change lol.

You can race change the instant they are in the game. So 4.0.3 for Dwarven Shamen. Worgen can't be Shammys. But if you have a Undead Warlock you can race change to Worgen on Dec. 7th.

Worgen and Goblin 85 Achievements require you to complete their respective starting Zone, which can't be done with a racechange.
Other than that, there are the 85 Realm First, 85 Class Realm First and Profession Realm First Achievements.

With theses achievements all not affected by a racechange, there is no single reason to not allow racechange at release.

I have no idea when. But I am pretty sure that worgen can't be shaman though. I was saddened when I found that out too.

As far as I know blues have never confirmed when we can race change to the new combos. They were still debating it.

They probably just haven't announced it yet. Due to the fact that they tailored the world first achievements for the new races specifically to prevent people from race changing/rolling DK's into world firsts leads me to believe they will allow it as soon as it releases.

Like I said earlier, there's simply too much money to be made. It also explains why they randomly started testing the effects of multiple and constant faction/race changing, or whatever they are doing on the beta.

It wouldn't surprise me if they did enable it on the first day with all the money involved but it would still be lame as hell imo.
Why would you want to race change on the first day so badly ? So you can idle in the capital just like the other bazillion race changed people ? Why not just go and level one instead of waiting for the race change to become available for the new races (if for example they would wait a month to enable it) ?

It's just lame, especially considering there is tons of new 0-60 content to enjoy, there is really no reason to enable it other then to make tons of money of furries, frustrated paladins, druids and wannabe snowflakes that want to pick something uncommon.

Because you don't want to be a Blood Elf Paladin anymore?
Because you don't want to be a Tauren Druid anymore?
Because you don't want to be a Night Elf Druid anymore?
Because you don't want to be a Draenei Shaman anymore?

There's at least 4 reasons I can see for why somebody would want to change right away. Not to mention the catch-all "Not everybody likes the same thing you do".

I recall seeing a blue post that said the Dwarf Lock/Shaman/Mage Troll Lock, Orc mage type class combos should be available with 4.0.3. But now theyre talking the diff between 4.0.3 and 4.0.3a soooo yeah. And the new races as was said are a meta type achieve. Complete the start zone then hit 85.

Then why not just go and level a new one with the new race so you actually get to connect with your new background story and heritage and actually see the new content while your at it ? And if you absolutely don't want to level up the same class again why would it be such a big deal to wait a month before being able to race change like it was in TBC ?

Not everybody cares about "their" new background or heritage.

And if you absolutely don't want to level up the same class again why would it be such a big deal to wait a month before being able to race change like it was in TBC ?
Because there's no reason to limit it. Also, race changes didn't come out until last year... so race changing wasn't an option at any point in TBC.

Race change in TBC was a completely new introduction, that doesn't count?

The only reason I can think of as to why we can't change to a tauren paladin yet is because they don't have any quests.. I assume these will be introduced in 403 or 403a.. and as soon as those are available, the race changes will..

And, adding to that.. I don't want to play a Goblin,(no paladin option) and neither do I want to play a Worgen(also no paladin option so leveling the same class doesn't count).. I just want my Paladin to look like a Tauren because I'm fed up with Belf being the only Horde Paladin race.. is that so strange?

I've already gone through all the tauren quests.. Loremaster, hello? Se the heritage and background story is also kind of a non-issue. Dropping all your gear and starting with a fresh char is also a bit of a stupid idea when you have the option with all other race/class combo's to switch as is currently possible.

Because while 1-60 will have new content, 61-80 will not, and I'd rather stab myself in chest a few times than play through Hellfire, Boren, or the god forsaken Dragon Blight one more time.

There's also something dull about leveling up a class you've already leveled once. You spend most of your leveling time just grinding through till you finally get to the high level ability or talent that actually makes the class fun and/or playable.

It's bad enough I'll have to pay for a race change just to finally have the non @$$%%@ cow horde druid I've wanted since vanilla.

So people just like more/prettier pixels ?
They care enough about their character to feel a benefit from a race change but not actually knowing anything about their character ? in an MMO->RPG<-
You didn't answer the question about simply leveling a new toon btw.

Because there's no reason to limit it. Also, race changes didn't come out until last year... so race changing wasn't an option at any point in TBC.
There is in my opinion, they are the new races, if they enable it from the start everybody will be a worgen or a goblin, that doesn't sound very fun to me, people should also play the new content for the new races before they are allowed to roll one, otherwise you're just buying a new dress up doll really.
