    It's still one card, Nvidia was experimenting on a similar setup but they couldn't pull it off because of the heat and power consumption. 5970 is still fastest card around until Cayman and Antilles.

    One card but it works with Crossfire internally, so it has all the drawbacks of having two cards when it comes to compatibility issues.

    Also 5970 is nowhere near the fastest single card if you're nitpicking. Asus ARES on Radeon side (2x 5870 OC'd) as well as EVGA's Hydro Copper GTX480/580 (OC'd) in DX11 games/benchmarks beats it by mile. Asus was building similar 2 GPU card of GTX480 few months ago like ARES is, but they might've scrapped it in favor of 580's or something.
