So I think this is the season of great teachers.

Tokyo Ravens (best), Nagi no Asukara, Kill la Kill, Non Non Biyori, NouKome (because loli), Outbreak Company (though this is cheating), and even Strike the Blood (because goth loli).

Yeah, but that has nothing to do with Kaga.

Catching up on Nagi no Asukara -

Her opening and walking through the door while the garage door was open just a few feet away sparked my autism.

Them freaking out so horribly about the world maybe ending in 50-100 years is hilarious.

Either the translation, or the show, doesn't understand the words ice age, global cooling, or they aren't very adept at science in this world.

They also don't know the definition of adaption and that humans have lived in an ice age before.

In an ice age water also shouldn't be changed much at all. It's too large of a body to be able to freeze or have an obvious drop in temperature so fish people shouldn't be acting so out of shape over it. If anything the people on the surface should be technologically preparing for the possibility of an ice age.

Other than the obvious discrepancies for dramas sake this is pretty awesome.

The loli crying scene was also adorable. They don't even understand life spans yet. Dawwwww

Also old grannies thinking plants would still be alive in hundreds of years (or the life span of an ice age) is adorable in it's own right.

inb4 show turns post-apocalyptic far in the future.

One more episode to go for catch up.

Red x Purple yuri doujins where.

At first I didn't like Kaga and sometimes she is still annoying. But she realizes it. Probably she doesn't know what to do - given what she knows and/or assumes I can't blame her. I started liking her during the last few episodes. For Linda on the other hand, I have no reason to like her as of yet. However, if there's a good reason behind their personalities (both Kaga and Linda), my feelings for the characters might change soon again.

I snipped some parts of your spoiler. What you are mentioning has bothered me for 4-5 episodes now.

Especially after a comment from Akari after Hikari told her about them going to sleep. She said something along the lines of 'you should've talked to your father more often'. What did she imply with this statement? I still don't know what to think of the whole thing. Since their world is obviously a fantasy world, I believe the 'ice age' might not be what we expect right now. Akari seems to be pretty calm about all of it. Might the event to come be much less dangerous than the show implies?

I think we shouldn't assume that it will be a simple ice age.

Or do they actually mean 'people of the land are going to die' (in the sense of only this generation) because they will be sleeping for about 100 years? I need to know

IDK, after I read it and applied it to what I watched it does make a ton of sense. Yeah, the fanservice is overblown to hell, exaggerated like nothing else - but isn't that exactly the point?

Well, let's take a similar example.

Nudity is a good way of conveying vulnerability and helplessness in a variety of works. The first example that comes to mind is the shower scene of Psycho (I'm linking it, but seriously who hasn't seen this clip in reference somewhere?). The woman is naked and exposed, which makes her being attacked at that point all the more visceral. But it doesn't pan all over her body, or even try to cut it close. It just gets the point across without trying to sex-sells the scene. By comparison nobody's going to seriously argue that in porn the nudity of women is a representation of how historically they have been at the mercy of men; no they're naked because that's what guys want to see.

Now, if Kill la Kill really were about female coming of age and body image issues there are a lot of ways to go about that. Putting her in a fetish costume and going for a crotch-shot isn't one of those. There's a thin line between saying something's a satire or commentary and the same series trying to cash in on the exact same mentality. So if the writers are trying to get those points across they've already killed it by drowning them in so much fanservice that it's suffocated by now. Post mortem justification for the conceptual murder is just rationalization at that point.

Yeah scenes like this makes it clear it's nothing but fanservice. Comedic sexual fanservice if anything.

  9. #22969
It's without a doubt fanservice, but who gives a shit? If it's an entertaining show that's all that matters, let the femnazis bitch and moan about it.

Come on, don't compare Kill la Kill to porno. -.- And Psycho, we're talking about different media in different eras. First of all, Psycho was not primarily a comedy, at least as far as I understood that movie.

Kill la Kill is undoubtedly full of fanservice. Ridiculous, overblown fanservice. But why do you insist it's only about it? There's nothing wrong with digging a bit deeper and trying to see what's under that. Those crotch-shots and hilariously exposing costumes you criticize are much more comedic than sexy, and I'm quite sure that's done on purpose.

Yeah, but it doesn't go past that. It's there for the fans to oggle and laugh at. It doesn't have any deeper meaning than that. Which is fine. I enjoy the show, but it's ridiculous to say that it's there for women empowerment or any other deeper meaning. Sex sells, and trigger is just applying that age old adage.

Well, I just like to sometimes look at some series from a different angle; the picture I linked earlier is nothing more than exactly that: an interesting lens to look at Kill la Kill through.

Even if it's just LOLOLOL SUCH FANSERVICE, I'm still enjoying the series greatly due to animation, soundtrack and crazy world.

If you are wondering who drew up the picture it was some guy on 4chan trying to mess with the femnazis and make the anime seem like it's acceptable. So that's the reason why I took that image with a grain of salt. 4 chan even found a way to brick peoples xbox one by getting them to do some stupid shit to it so it had a infinite loop like deleting system 32 from your computer.

They also recently put out a command that deletes files on any unix based system (apart from windows, they have safeguards in place for that, but macs do not)

4chan has been doing a lot of stuff to mess with apple too like the waterproof app that you could download and people thought it worked and got pissy about it and blamed apple so they had to come out and tell everyone not to listen to what is being spread around the internet as truth!

Those special episodes are hilarious. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...ol-trial-short has a description of what is going on, if you can't wait for it to get subbed.

Honestly, anyone stupid enough to believe in waterproof app deserves to become a laughingstock for everyone they tell about it.

Ars Nova - Takao is still there! ...Sort of. Not like I really expected anything else, but still. I am a bit sad what happened to I-400 and I-402. I wanted them to at least survive, though it doesn't look hopeful.

With just one episode left, I doubt they can make a satisfying ending. Even this episode felt a bit rushed, and there is too much going on to actually finish it in just 20 minutes.
