The Lolicon material probably did cross the "taking over the thread" line as it just wouldn't end and talk about how much people wanted to "hit it" was being brought up. Honestly Makina and you fellows should have been aware it was going to alienate some posters.

I am sure there are specialist forums for that kind of thing. Most decent people do not like hearing adults talk about having sex with children, even if they are just cartoons.

I know it's tame. After I finish a series I usually look for cool pictures from it because I'm a bit of a collector when it comes to pictures/AMVs/soundtracks...and all I can say is Safe Search was made for anybody looking for anime pictures. It's just that I have absolutely no interest in, if not an objection to, lolicon so it gets tiresome to scroll past whole pages of commentary and pictures on the topic. I'm going to guess I'm not entirely alone in this, as it's obvious that the views of this thread far outstrip the few posters that reliably comment here meaning others probably do the same as I do when it comes to using this thread for some information.

In any case, I'm not trying to make it some strong moral imperative. I'd just love to hear more about Utena, or the new Berserk movies, or about how the summer line up is shaping up, or anything really.

And I have no idea what your avatar is from; I'm a lamer with only 40 series under my belt.

I know nothing about it, otherwise I'd totally comment on it. Was it good or merely trippy? Apparently one of the main characters dies at the end, but it's written in a fashion that leaves it within doubt? As I've said, I'm always on the lookout for good series.

Although I guess it's selfish of me to ask for school-style series reports like the ones I write voluntarily.

Ah, I thought people have seen it since its pretty old. (1997, I guess that's pretty old now-a-days anyway). It was good, it had faults, but I enjoyed it a lot. It was trippy, not Madoka trippy, it had a lot of symbolism and not just with the visuals, some completely over my head and I still don't understand most of it. Apparently from wikipedia the show is about growing up and the whole duel system symbolizes "deflowering" which I guess makes sense. There was a lot of stock footage, and I mean, a lot, you see the same few scenes every single episode, not to mention there is a few recap episodes which I despise (I usually skim through them, meh)

Many fans consider it a classic, and I can see why, despite its fault it was an enjoyable watch. I'm still kind of unsure if that character died, the ending is *sort of* open, I even thought there was a second series and apparently there isn't, just a movie. It's not open as in an Inuyasha ending type thing where they don't resolve anything (the first series at least, I know there's Final Act, or whatever).

The movie is apparently just a retelling, but way trippier, I might watch it for my love of surrealism, just curious if anyone's seen it or not.

Also one thing I loved about Utena was the characters, especially Utena herself, shes pretty much what I was looking for when I wanted a strong female lead, the characters all develop nicely in the end, and characters you might end up in the beginning become more likeable as time goes on. (coughtougacough)

Oh and yes there are specialized forums but they're also pretty rare seeing as loli is illegal(or borderline) in alot of the western world. Oh and for any mods seeing this it just applies to the real porn not this stuff here.

I've never understood the craze about lolicon and similar things when it comes to manga/anime, but I guess everyone's different.
I guess it's like... how I like popular shonen mangas/shows like One Piece, Naruto and Toriko, yet many people believe those are pretty herpaderp series.
(Might be a pretty bad comparison, but the point is, people are different. For better or for worse.)

Berserk movies are going to be a flaming disappointment, they are rehashing the story the unfinished anime already animated which was done well enough to not need rehash, why they arent FINISHING the story they left in the middle of bloody nowhere is beyond me.

The reason is because the manga still hasn't finished yet. No matter what with the current material available people are going to be disappointed, and if they are going to touch the berserk franchise then they might as well just do the Golden Age Arc (the best part of the story IMO) and IF the movies are profitable then backdoor it into a full show with those as the jumping point while praying that in the mean time the Mangaka finishes the story up enough. (Not going to happen, 90% sure this is going to be a series where the author dies first...)

I found it funny in the later sagas where Utena would duel someone and someone would just be chilling in one of those cars riding by. The series has some weird thing for those cars.

Bleh part of that is BECAUSE the first Hellsing TV show was a success. It enabled them to secure the funding for the second, much more expensive series. As for the story being different that is because the Manga was only half done at the time and they had to make up an ending on the fly. Do you really want an ending to Berserk that some TV producer randomly thought would be a good idea? (heres looking at you Incognito as the final villain of Hellsing)

Gurren Lagann has been mentioned quite a bit actually. Also I honestly don't get the obsession with it, its a good anime, with some awesome moments thrown in but it seems a little forced at times, and a lot of the time it intentionally seems to fall into traditional shounen traps. I will say however that I did very much like the ending and Kamina's death was very well done.

It isn't on the front page, where all manly things belong! And of course it intentionally falls into those traps. With a gusto even. Thats kinda the point, the most epic anime ever made that manages to not take itself too seriously.
