Is anyone able to resize this for MAL's requirements without losing too much quality? (225x350)

a large picture like that isn't going to retain great quality when shrunk so much

edit: Comparing them directly; mine has a bit more quality and the colors look more dynamic, imo.

Kind of hard to tell. Uploaded it to the profile and flipped back and forth between the previous one and yours, and while I can see there's a difference in the images, can't really tell which looks better lol.

The one you have currently on your MAL is a little better the one he put up I can see quite a bit of blurring.

Eh, screw it lol. I don't know whose I have uploaded atm, but I'll just use it unless someone makes one that has a much more noticeable jump in quality.

But them directly next to each other maybe that's a bit easier to judge.

You may have over done the sharping in a bit it kinda hurts the eyes but your's does have a bit more detail but it's also a bit too sharp. Hemos has that soft look which I can tolerate more.

Either way, the full size image looks so much better. Wish the quality didn't decrease so much.

You think? I just downsized it how I always do when I try to retain the most of the original quality. It comes down to personal preference in the end, but I can see why you'd prefer the softer look of Hemo's version.

Yeah, it's a shame that it's literally impossible to keep all of the quality when you downsized most pictures. Even more when you shrink them so much. The original picture is really good.

To save quality when shrinking something down for pictures like that it's best to use PNG. Since Png pictures make the best one for gifs since they kinda save the quality. For real photographs best to use JPEG.

Yeah, it's a shame that it's literally impossible to keep all of the quality when you downsized most pictures. Even more when you shrink them so much. The original picture is really good.

You can always also see if you can sacrifice *some* image content by cropping bits that you don't need, which lets you end up not having to downscale quite so much. Playing around with sharpness/softness afterwards can also help to hide imperfections.

I appreciate the advice guys, but it's not like I've never done this before^^
I just took the picture and scaled (and cropped) it to the required resolution to see how it'd look and went with that. I didn't really put that much effort into it.

Nothing wrong with brainstorming!

Anyway, here's my attempt, didn't really turn out very differently to Goriq's, I experimented with increasing the resolution during downscaling.
