So im gonna roll a hunter...

and i was wondering which spec works the best for lvling(is it still BM)? Does the type of pet matter(cunning, etc). It will be a goblin hunter. The proffs ill pick will be LW, and either a gathering or Eng. And is there a good website for hunter guides?

Bm and get a tanking pet.
You can tell WoW changed the MMO for good when players started complaining about the amount of time they sink, into a time sink.

Ok for lving BM is the best spec right now but it all depends on what you like best. For good information on hunters, wow.joystiq.com is a pretty good place for information. As for professions, if you are gonna go raiding, I suggest jewelcrafting and enchanting but if this is your 1st or 2nd toon, LW works fine with skinning.

I'm planning a hunter too, mostly because the idea of a worgen with a pet wolf amuses me. Undecided on the spec, but leaning towards BM.

Not looking to rush it to 85 or anything, just something to amuse myself on when I'm bored.

BM is an amazing spec, with icc 25/25hc gear and 2 T5 items i can solo wotlk heroics with only sligth problems (as lvl 80 ofc) Profs should be engi and JC for max raid performance, but herb/engi is nice aswell, even tho they dont go good together, else mining and engi is good aswell. As for pet get a turtle. got a defenceive cooldown wich reduces dmg taken by 50% for 12 sec 42 sec cd

Mysteriously delicious, but with complexity beyond degree.

BM and a Gorilla for his thunderclap (aoe thread) and pummel (interrupt).

They are less OP than during WotLK launch (they where doing 2k TC =D) but they hold aggro pretty well.

Use the MD glyph (reset when cast on pet) and the MD macro /cast [target=pet] misdirection.

So just MD, Mend, then send your pet into a pack and Multi-Shot, then single target them down. Easy as pie.

Care to elaborate? Because I have a lot of fun with focus?

Hunter are fun now yes, but the pets oh the pets, so similar now and feels so strange/stupid to carry all raidbuffs, Personally I'd enjoy it more if they just buffed them all to be competitive but with their own niche ability.

uhh you don't get md till atleast level 76... but i agree about the glyph. GET A TENACITY PET. THE TALENTS WERE DESIGNED FOR LEVELING.

BM will always be the easiest spec to level with, however at early levels Surv will probably be the fastest due to explosive shot being awesome and BM cant compete with that dmg till you get kill command, and MM needs chimera shot tho rapid recuperation helps speed things up for MM.

Also, if you want to do any AoE grinding then Surv with Noxious Stings is the way to go. also, glyph Misdirect. Dont even bother trying to AoE anything till you can get Noxious stings tho, your dmg will be laughable.

As far as soloing things, a Tenacity pet talented for survival and self healing will let you solo just about anything. With glyph of misdirect you dont have to worry about aggro ever, so the pet doesnt need to do a lot of damage it just needs to stay alive will you kill things.

i think you mean 66, but yeah. forgot about that...

as for your other comments, they just show your not an adaptable person.

Actully, you get kill command at lvl 10 now.

Hunters do not get Misdirection until level 76, so any discussion of using it or the glyph of MD for purposes of leveling is pointless.

That out of the way, now is a great time to level a hunter.....

    1) No more ammo to buy

    2) Focus (which is awesome BTW) means almost no down time due to running out or low on mana

    3) Getting Explosive/Aimed/Indimidation and other bonuses at level 10 is huge

All specs will work well if you know how to play them. Surely BM will be easy, but might be too easy for your tastes. Also I don't think a tenacity pet is that neccesary, ferocity or cunning will do just fine. Pick up a pet you like, just make sure you have a tenacity pet in your stables for elite quests.

AoE leveling can be done but honestly, the times you actually find mobs close enough to each other to be farmed are very rare. (what I had atleast, always tried it but hard to get it to work while questing)

I definitely think a cat and when available a spirit beast will help with leveling. They give the agi/stre buff which is nice and the spirit beast gives you a heal which will be very useful.

You can level with any of the three specs just perfectly fine. Play around with them and decide which you like the best and stick with that. There's no reason to pick one spec over the other for leveling a Hunter.

leatherworking ? are you seriously picking that ? I truly regret that I picked LW on my shaman, even with lvling LW&Skinning it took like 10 times as long time as JC, or Ench/tailoring did. like. atleast 8000 pieces of leather. DEHTA wouldn't like that!
