Would have to be one epic bomb too hit the mountian hard enough to cause the city to collapse.
Darnassus is a close 2nd though but it is still highly vulnerable from aerial assault

Everyone who keeps mentioning Darnassus as a bad defensive place needs to remember what happened in world war 2.

Britain was basically invicible in the sea with the royal navy and the RAF kept the skies clear and Britain is a island.

I'm quite sure the NE's would have a lot of anti aircraft stuff now and anti naval weaponry.

Exodar, I mean come on! It will just fly away and rape the horde with some kind of crazy laser beams.

In addition to that, the Nightelves are a very old race of archers, hunters and druids so their means of fighting enemies that are not in range of direct combat are pretty well trained. They are also stealthy and the fact that Teldrassil is a tree and that their druids are on pretty good terms with trees in general gives them the opportunity to hide, set traps, etc.
Teldrassil can also grow the defenders everything they need wheras other places might initially be easier to defend but wouldn't withstand longer periods of siege (IF, Exodar in particular) due to provisions running out.

This question has been asked several times, and the answer is Ironforge as usual.
    Nope.

First, To the op;OT yes ironforge is the best place to hide and feel safe due to the 11 pages of answers above.

I however am horde so I chose what of my citys I would rather defend if I had to stratigically and I chose thunder bluff. First off the high ground, amazing. The ability to turn off lifts and you basically have a huge heads up from any ground assult as no one could "siege" it really. You would have to wait it out and that would allow towns to form underneath the spires of TB. Any attack on such towns would have huge casulty numbers with little gained as they would have a great deal of heads up due to the shear hight of the bluffs. The only weakness is air and even with a surprise attack, such as in "The Shattering" they sustained quite a bit of losses offensivly. Being fully prepared for an areal assult I think TB would be badass to hold and fend off waves of enemies

Unquestionably Darnassus. Yes there would be aerial assaults, but I have a VERY hard time seeing Horde druids attacking a world tree blessed by both Alexstraza and Ysera. Losing the druids would be a significant blow to the horde. And as was already mentioned, the Night Elves are excellent at archery. I don't think an aerial assault would be terribly effective.

And fire would be all but useless. Druids are the caretakers of Teldrassil, I'm pretty sure they could combat fire really efficiently. The only real threat Darnasses faces would be aerial biological attacks from the Forsaken.

[QUOTE=Renagade Raven;9525340]After you have been all the way through both Stormwind yeah you could destroy the tram. Doesn't matter that you can still get down that area with wagons etc, just it would take longer.

    Go visit the Forlorn Cavern.[quote]

Good point, I had forgotten about that completely. Though I thought the lore was that underneath IF was an volcano. Guess I was wrong.

Not at all. Farming can be done on mountain tops. Go look at some secluded monasteries on mountain heights.
The mountain tops that IF has access to are all covered in snow. I just don't see crops growing in the snow.

Or they just go sleep in stoneform, and not need to eat.
They have a back entrance onto the Airport.
They have years worth of food stockpiled. They could literally sit in that mountain for years. Not the same of people outside, who would need a supply train all the way from Arathi Highlands to keep them fed.
They could easily take the farms that are around IF and use them. Those same farms mentioned above would be easily taken by any army and could be converted.

Oh and the tram to and from IF goes underwater, with a single charge that it gone. Either group would have to send forces out to repair it, making for an excellent ambush site.

I think most of the posts are assuming any of these assaults would be over in a day. They wouldn't be. Assaults on any capital take time. To assume that you would take a city as easily as you do FtH or FtA is nonsense. It would be a very long drawn out affair. Shutting off IF's supplies is the best, but I suppose given the city you could just dump the plague in through their ventilation. That would fairly easily finish them. If you first blew the tram, they have one means of escape. If you have an army waiting outside, and the inside is filled with poison they don't stand much of a chance.

Do you honestly expect anything less. Dwarves are amazing with metal, and stone. The two strongest things to build cities out of. Not to mention they are pretty smart too. They can build amazing cities, with great defenses. The rest of the alliance, not so much. Dwarves though, taking their city by brute force would only serve to exhaust the enemy forces.

    so Id go with Thunderbluff

Undercity has the back door exit, that can not be shot down, hardly guarded and open for all.

If you are going RP wise, it would prolly be something like:

    Gnomeregan
    Iron Forge
    Stormwind
    Dranssus
    Orgimmar
    Thunderbluff
    Exodar
    Undercity
    Silvermoon
you forgot about all the forsaken shitting mate

Ironforge for alliance, Thunder Bluff for Horde (in game, not RPwise)....kinda silly how there are 3 elevators up to TB though...in all honestly for like my first year I didn't even know there was more than one elevator up.

I'd say IF as a horde
