Final Thoughs on WoTLK as we transition towards the Cataclysm...

So, everyone, we made it. We banged our heads into ICC for nearly (if not over) a year, spent a small bit of time in the Trial of the Crusader (or was it Champion...?), had fun smashing Yoggy-poo (I wonder if Kologarn had legs or not...), and don't forget about fury warriors dual-wielding the Betrayer of Humanity (SO MUCH EPEEN). Wrath of the Lich King is over, Arthas is dead (and so is Falstad), and I've ran my last loop of Sholazar Basin to farm ore (thank god).

Wintergrasp was super fun (right?), laps around Ironforge never got old, many veteran Ventrilo buddies are still around - several of which have recently come back - and a few new guys joined up along the way. Ruby Sanctum was terrible in comparison to the amount of time between ICC launch and it's launch (Sorry Blizzard, but you really failed), 4.0 was cool I suppose (Granted any change would be welcomed after a year of ICC...), and I could do without the constant shaking of the world and elemental attacks on capital cities making my mailbox and auctioneer disappear (I get the lore, but c'mon, I'd rather not deal with more of this). Leveling was a bitch.

I really liked Heirloom gear. Gave me something to waste more badges on (Sorry, Justice Points, I'll take a bit of time to convert) and an added incentive to spend more of my life staring at a monitor trying to level my 5th toon to 80. But hey, Justice Points, you get some love, too. Spending 10 minutes converting 80 Badges of Frost to a few gems was a pain in the arse, so I'll be quick to admit you guys are a nice change of pace.

And hey, note to Blizzard, don't stagger wing unlocks like you did for ICC to buy yourselves more time to release content. Figure something else out. Seeing as it took you 8 months to release any new raiding content, it obviously did not work as intended.

So, MMO-Champion users, with all that being said, do you guys (and girls. Yes, they do, in fact, play WoW) have any final thoughts, fond memories, or moments seldom desired from the Wrath of the Lich King saga as we move towards the shattering of Azeroth?

    -=Edit=-

Not gonna lie, I got a bit nostalgic thinking over my fondest / most hated moments over the past couple years. It's like a final farewell to the WoTLK saga...

Somewhat liked the addition of heirlooms, although I find looking the same and getting no upgrades from 1-80 is a bit boring.

I was quite happy in Naxxramas, having not played in Vanilla; Had some nice runs in there with my TBC guildies.
I also think Ulduar was a nice addition to WotLK, and really enjoyed the scenery and lore with it.
After that it really went downhill though, and I didn't play much after. Here's to hoping for a good comeback for Cataclysm

Ulduar was the only instance worth a damn that actually challenged guilds before they got heavy nerfs. As a progression raider ICC was a let down. 11/12 HM 25 was too easy while the difficulty level of LK 25HM was 200% greater than PP Sindy.

WG was a joke dependent on your server

TOGC was a waste of time and a bad slot filler for raiding.

One thing's for sure, I'm not gonna miss all the damn snow. Sounds pretty good with some lava about now.

Also, ICC, ToC, LK dungeons/Heroics. I've had enough. Out with the old, in with the new.

I've always been a big fan of Nagrand and Grizzly Hills. Maybe I just like the color green, haha

The only things that I didn't like about WOTLK were Gearscore, DK tanking and the recent change to paladin mechanics.
    Just my opinion.

Finally the return of variety. Wrath of the Lich King can be summed up with two words: Scourge and snow. From level 68-80, that is all we saw. Sure we had the odd diversion like Ulduar, but it wasn't enough to get those two themes out of our heads for long. It was all far to tedious and boring for far too many stretches.

    Liked:
    - The whole Arthas-thing: From CoT4 and learning about the story while leveling (Dragonblight had a lot) to Icc and finally killing the bad guy. Just felt right!
    - Ulduar was fantastic - would have liked to go there a lot more.
    - Sholazar and Grizzlies, green Color and Nesingwary, yay!
    - The smooth way questing was designed and quests could be chained...no long walks, etc.
    - Dalaran - absolutely impressive, will miss it!
    - Learning to fly at 77 and later being able to buy it for your toons at 68. Learn it the hard way, but not over and over again.
    - ICC: Strangely motivating, even after a year.
    - Achievements! Yes, they didn't exist until 3.0 at the end of BC. Cannot remeber, what i did without them in Vanilla!
    - Protodrakes, even better than the Frostwyrm. Only beaten by Invincible.
    - Oh, yes! Malygos! Sadly, there's not too many sharing this opinion with me.
    - Raid-Weekly-Quests (Yes, there's people wanting to kill Malygos every couple of weeks!)

    Didn't like:
    - Naxx! Already knew that and was far too easy.
    - Ruby Sanctum. Fun Fight, but bad timing for the release. No way to pug this instance.
    - Arena. Just did not catch my interest. Not a great PvPer anyway.
    - ToC: Too short as a filler, too many 49tries-left
    - cannot think of more atm...

In general WotLK was really good and (again) I played a lot more than i wanted!

Well, the thing I will miss the most is the guild I used to be in at the start of wotlk. When we were progressing through naxx, maly and os. Sure the raids was easy, but it still was alot of fun to experience this instance everyone had major problems with. I will miss Grizzly hills and naxx, and driving around in dala in my chopper

Well i must be one of the only people who's only ever seen 3 wings of naxx, OS, and VoA and only FL in ulduar and nothing else. I've seen the entrance to ICC, seen the portal to TotC but never been anywhere near most of them... Maybe i will do when i get to 85 and do "classic WOTLK raids".. infact only last week have i actually seen Hyjal raid and kara...

Apart from ToC it was an amazing expansion that got bad rep from people not understand or liking the new progression path of heroic modes.

I honestly think I'll remember it fondly, I wasn't terribly pleased with how some of the progression played out but I still enjoyed myself. Ulduar was a shining example of what raiding can be, and ToC was really a lot of fun (It was! We were just stuck with it for way to long :P). The questing was more or less really pleasant and the zones are incredibly memorable (Grizzly Hills and Storm Peaks will be up there in my list of favorite zones for a long time.) I had good times, but I'm going to embrace Cataclysm with open arms.

WotLK will be far better to remember than it was to play.

i thoroughly enjoyed wotlk, but there were some blizz screw ups that impacted badly on the raid progression path.

ulduar was by far the best raid of wotlk, it's such a shame that it brought with it the start of gear inflation, which was then usurped by the incredibly awful, incredibly undertuned ToC, a no trash snoozefest that could be cleared in under half an hour and utterly destroyed the awesomeness that was ulduar - only 3 months after ulduar had come out!!!!

considering how long we were left with ICC as the ONLY raid worth doing, they really should've left ToC on the drawing board and tuned it properly, as well as leaving ulduar a bit more time in the sun. i just feel like they rushed ToC and then ICC out of the door, then we were left with 6-8 months of farming ICC. RS isn't even worth mentioning, it was bland and completely tasteless as a filler raid, we needed another 5+ boss instance to fill the last 6 months of wotlk raiding.

i'm just hoping blizz are gonna be able to roll out more linear and better paced raid progression with cata. i'd rather have a good raid released every 6 months, than a shitty raid every 3 months.

Wotlk was a good expansion that brought out many ideas both good and bad. I'm thankful for a pet/mount tab it introduced, finally. I'm thankful for a new class. And I'm thankful that I learned so much more in this expansiont han I did in others.

I'll miss Northrend, but now it's time to move onto a new world. Farewell Wotlk, welcome Cata!

I'm actually a bit inclined to agree that Ulduar was the best of raids in WoTLK. Granted my Paladin was still my main at the time so I couldn't fully enjoy it on my Warlock, it really was the best imo.
