Dalaran will be more deserted then shattrath in wrath

you really can see it. in wotlk, although outland only become a leveling zone to get to 68 asap, shattrath still had a solid use, in the mechanics of the portals there, people wanted to make that there hearthpoint when they got there. I remember seeing the change in shattrath almost right away in wotlk, but I still remembered enough people still coming though there.

Now the same fate is set for dalaran. The last few years spent in it and it becoming my hearth point, now to just be another forgotten city. Now, all thats going to happen is it becoming stagnent, leveling though northrend has been greatly increased. In order to get to dalaran before, you had to ask a mage, or complete the quest to get up there.. but is anyone really going to care about doing that? All people will want is to speed level to 80 and start the new leveling zones. Not only will dalaran be forgotten or disused for that reason, but without the use of its portals, no one will care about making it there hearthpoint even when they are leveling. At least shattrath had that appeal.

Honestly, it seems like such a waste, and blizzard taking away the one mechanic that would make people want to go there. I believe there then will be less people seen in dalaran in cata then ppl in shattrath in wrath.

It's old content. Old content tends to see relatively low use.

Why would you go to either Shat or Dal when there's no quick way to get to either place or back?

yeah, though like I say, even shattrath had the appeal that you could use portals to major cities and that gave reason for people to make it there hearthstone well leveling in outland. And shattrath was on the ground, you didn't need to buy flying or do a quest to go see it.

If I remeber correctly I read somewhere that they are going to put a bank in Dal once they remove the portals. If thats the case I may still park all my alts that I just use for professions in Dal still. The profession trainers/sellers are all located really nicely in the corner of dal and they are right by a mailbox, makes doing crafts and dailys quick.

There's already 2 banks. They're putting class trainers in, though, to replace the portals.

Which makes sense, because people levelling in Northrend could get their level 70-80 abilities. IMO I think it is a good thing. Dalaran / Shat is sort of like a quest hub now (like goldshire) for Northrend / Outland

Yes, but if you're leveling through Outland or Northrend you would still want to set your hearth there. They have everything you'd need--trainers, AH, banks, etc.

Never really read up on this but in the beta there's portals in org/sw you can use to the 80-85 questing zones once you've discovered them. So my guess would be org/sw for hearthstone

Dal will be exactly what it is now - a main city for levels 70-80.

I heard that was only in the beta for beta users, that it wouldn't be there as a portal hub in the live.

They wouldn't go out of their way to design and implement special places for them if they weren't going to be used. If that was the case they would simply have used the Transportation NPCs that existed in early beta.
