Hacked for the 1st time in 6years

I simply don't understand. I didn't answer any emails, never bought gold, never shared my account, never put my infos beside on battlenet. How is this even possible? I really don't understand.

i only log at home. Didnt really bother to check for keyloggers since im on a mac.

Keylogger. Did you go to any sketchy sites? Heck, even on legit sites you can sometimes pick up something. You should probably virus/adware/malware scan your computer to see if it picks up anything. If you haven't been doing this regularly then that might be your culprit.

6.50 for an authenticator is serious business

The 4 officers of my guild who were hacked with one say Hi.

There are precautions for sure but no guarentees for being hacked, even if you can't seem to trace it. Probably wont happen again anyway if you keep the habits you described, you seem pretty careful (except the not checking for keylogger thing)

I have to say I just love it when people who haven't been hacked in years finally get hacked because they never thought that getting an authenticator was needed. Security is all about being proactive, meaning get the security before you actually need it.

Don't be dumb and get an authenticator.

I don't understand why you're surprised. This is like, if you'll pardon the crude analogy.. using condoms for a while, then not using them for a while. then looking shocked and surprised when your partner becomes pregnant even though she swore it was an okay time of the month.

No computer is safe. Not even macs. Get an autheticator. The hassle is worth the peace of mind.

Me... I've been hacked. I hadn't been playing wow in over 6 months, and my current PC didn't even have wow installed when bliz sent me an email telling me they'd closed my account for economic abuse. No one is safe. Honest.

Sorry to hear that, get an authenticator. Apart from the extra security it's like adding a mini game to the log in process... Fun for all the family (Ages 3+)

    The bottom line is:
    Shit happens.
I accidentally dropped an expensive vase yesterday (ugly, but still). First vase I ever broke. Why this happened now?

Yea same thing happened to me. I wasn't playing WoW for like 3 months only thing I did with my computer at that time was check my email and play some MW2. One day I get an email saying my password was changed, changed it back, they changed it again immediately after I changed it. So I got on a buddies computer changed the account name email, did a fresh install of windows and was done with that. Thank you authenticator, came in handy and it was the best $6 I ever spent.
