    Elemental PVP Spec/Style

Hey, I've been playing elemental for pvp since wrath launched, and I have some questions for the new talents. This is the spec I have been playing with since 4.0.1 launched. Any thoughts?

Also, if anybody has any suggestions for elemental pvp play style, I would love to hear them.

traditionally shamans has been a run in, do lot of burst dps, then run out type. In arena, we are expected to soak a lot of damage and survive although we don't have much tools to survive, just a shield.

It's hard to PvP as ele shaman right now cause it's impossible for us to pick up instant ghost wolf. At 85, you basically operate on the perimeter of the field near the healers and such. If you get focused fire, you have to bail real quick or die.

I wanna get an opinion on my spec, not sure if its good or not.

id say pick up lava surge... getting those procs can reaaaally help burn someone down... and i would even get EQ... its real nice for getting peeps out of stealth.. and picking up ancestral resolve may seem good but it just doesnt tie in cause we need instant GW.... thats just my opinion though =)

is what I currently use, we no longer win with offensive pressure so getting those 20% extra healing is big.

EQ and Lava Surge both have good uses.
Getting rogues out of stealth is a good one.
Lava Surge..who doesnt want more lava bursts?
edit: you will probably never get a decently charged fulmination off in an arena. so fulmination is somewhat a waste. however it is nice for bgs.

Is what I use, it's really nice with those points in restoration tree, you can throw some really great heals with those.
Major glyphs for me is a hard choice. You have:
    - Stoneclaw - mandatory I'd say.
    - Hex - mantory as soon arenas start again, but I don't use it right now for BGs.
    - Lightning Shield - somewhat nice.. you no longer wont have to refresh your shield vs most classes, but it's possibly instant dispelled by others and you have to refresh it anyways.
    - Thunderstorm - always good with lower TS cooldown.
    - Elemental Mastery: 20% dmg reduction for 15 sec - good for some extra survivability.

It's up to you to decide what fits best for your playstyle. I'm running with Stoneclaw, Lightning Shield and Elemental Mastery atm.

No you dont. You just need 31 points in Elemental tree to continue in another.

Is it really worth the two points? because the 20% RNG is unpredictable. Wouldn't it be better to get something you can depend on more?

Even though it's unpredictable, when you're bursting down a target and it happens, it pretty much seals the deal. You will want any chance that you have of dealing extra damage done on your target, and Lava Surge is surely the way to go, for both PVP and PVE.

actually, i like your spec ALOT. very similar to my playstyle. I'm going to copy it, THANKS.
I would probably take points from ancestral resolve into lava surge though.

    This is best imo.

Fulmination isn't practical in PvP. Either players will attack you and drop your lightning shield orbs or you won't have enough time to cast lightningbolts/chain lightning bolts to stack it up high enough.

With the resto talents, you also get some great off-healing ability. This will be dropped for insta-GW in cata of course, but it's fun to abuse now.

p.s. Lava Surge is huge, even though it is very RNG dependent, especially if you flame shock multiple targets.

Oh, and yes, I picked up Earthquake. It's an ability to find stealthed rogues at a distance and to cause heavy disruption in turtle situations for just 1 talent point. It's not great, but 1 talent point isn't game breaking anywhere else.

I don't see why you wouldn't take rolling thunder/fulmination, right now all you can do is bgs, and it's not like people are going to be smart enough to remove lightning shield. You'll still be able to make use of it and blow people up.

There's no reason to take the spirit-hit conversion talent either, if you're in pvp gear you won't have spi anyway, and if you're in pve gear you should have the pvp hit rating.
